<DeathStar> *a snowball floats after Lana, trying to be all sneaky like*

<DeathStar> *The snow ball gets closer, floating right behind her neck*
<Jackieness> <Lana> *continues along, focused on her destination*
<Seraphna> **Talia leaps out of Lana's top and slices the snow ball**
<Seraphna> Talia> Pillow Warming Squad activate!
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ahhhhhh!"

<DeathStar> *Sylph begins to roll in the snow to reform into Snowball to float off to sneak up on people*
<DeathStar> *Lumi contacts people, asking them to come to her office when they have a moment*

<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ahhhh!" *heads to Lumi's office*

<Seraphna> **Alita is talking to a daemon student, she pauses and pats her head before moving to see Lumi**

<Jackieness> <Lana> *walks in with her folders* "Ah, I have my latets research reports right here."
<Ariel> * Nicolette heads in, managing with a small toolbox, a tome, and a stick.
<DeathStar> *Peace fiddles with his paperwork, a complete mess while Gwen steps in from the cold, having been snow balled*
<Alicia> * Asha seems more interested in greeting the new student than the report
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Errrr...?" *loooks at Gwen* "...this isn't about my research updates?"
<DeathStar> <Peace> *glances up* Ah? Sorry, *He glances down at a file* Lana. Right. You're always coming up with these new research stuff. You and that *Glances down* Ceilidh.
<DeathStar> <Peace> *he peers out* Making Reploids and looking into Croza stuff. Do we really need that kind of stuff?

<DeathStar> <Peace> *he looks out the window, as if making sure Ceilidh's reploid doesn't hear them* I mean, you two spend like more than half our budget
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ahhh...and are we to send our Peacekeepers into battle with pointy sticks!"
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "Ah, sorry. I thought... I'd be able to the spirit fossil power self-sustaining... but it's fine, I'll use use chargers and crystals from now on, that works too!"

<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "As for the Croza part... yes. Yes we do need that."
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Wait... there's a budget?"
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "Unfortunately."
<DeathStar> <Peace> Well, yes. The Peacekeepers have a budget. Your former director seems to, uh, have .... let your group take the bulk of it and the other groups are ... getting a bit mad at me
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "Well, if the other groups have big ideas, I'd be happy to help look into them too!"
<Seraphna> Alita> I can always bring in more funding if needed.

<Jackieness> <Lana> "We have other groups?"
<DeathStar> *Peace pauses at Lana, then slumps into the desk*
<Seraphna> Alita> I am Legion Royalty and a High Summoner. I'm sure I can bring in more support.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "...I never see them..."
<DeathStar> <Gwen> A lot of them are assigned throughout the lands, to keep an eye on the other Kingdoms and make sure the Alliance is running smoothly
<DeathStar> <Gwen> And to help the villages.
<DeathStar> <Gwen> We get special permission to remain here full time
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "That doesn't sound like research."
<DeathStar> <Gwen> Right now a good portion is at the Dark Lands after the Shinobu instance a few years back.
<DeathStar> <Gwen> It still costs money to fund these groups. Even if they aren't doing research
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "Ah..."
<DeathStar> <Peace> A-Anyway. I also was asked to um, gather you all here by the Universal Group.
<DeathStar> *Peace fumbles with all his stacks of papers*
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "I guess I could have the product of my research help out, she's pretty helpful. Hmm... is Ecne a good name? Irish goddess of poetry, wisdom and knowledge. I wanted a big name for such an important breakthrough."
<DeathStar> <Peace> AH. *He pulls out a paper* They want to prepare the younger generations for the Serpent and have been running a mentorship with them and it seems to be going successfully. They thought maybe we'd like to do it as well with our spirits, gaining skills with those who are not their parents.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ahhhhh?"
<DeathStar> <Peace> They leave the decision up us
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "...does she count as my daughter?" *muses*
<DeathStar> <Gwen> I'd think so
<Seraphna> **Terra pops in covered in mud, which was cute when she was a child but now she's quite older, she dumps fruit on the table**
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "So, maybe she should get a mentorship too."
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "I... I'm not a young one any more." *shock*
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "You're our young genius."
<DeathStar> <Peace> *looks at Nicolette, then at the chart, then back* You're not one of the students and you're not 20ish?
<DeathStar> *somewhere, Sabrina snort laughs*
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "I was 20ish when I started doing stuff like peacekeeper things, so I count that as young too."
<Alicia> * Ceilidh refuses to elaborate on when that was, to avoid sounding old
<DeathStar> <Peace> *looks surprised but nod nods* I see. Well, if you feel you don't need to be mentored, you can mentor others then. I'll arrange things with the spirits and our younger students

<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Hmmm... I wonder who would mentor me, if I needed that." She clasps her hands together ponderously, making the tome and supplies disappear between them.
<DeathStar> <Peace> Well, what areas do you feel you're lacking in? *he eyes her file* You seem to have a complete grasp on uh, magic
<Seraphna> Terra> Could learn spirits with us! The Spirits!
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "If I was to pinpoint a weakness, it would probably be... mentalism."
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Predicting people? Easy. Leading people to what you want, without them realizing? That's harder."
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "It's waaaaaaaaaay beyond mere misdirection."
<DeathStar> <Gwen> I'm definitely not the person who can help you there. *He tosses food out for Talia, leading her toward the door*
<DeathStar> *Peace hands Terra something* Can you round up the spirits for me?
<Seraphna> **Terra nods and poofs to find them**
<Seraphna> **Talia follows, enticed by food**
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "If only there was an easy way to train up magical power... which makes me wonder... is Sparkling being mentored? She seems to have the opposite problem."

<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "You've seen her, right? It seems like her only solution to anything is 'Apply magic directly to the problem'"

<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "You do seem to have more nuanced methods, true."

<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Honestly, I feel like if you got Sparkling a pair of gauntlets, hooked up to a reactor, she'd be happy."

<Alicia> <Ecne> "Wow, you know everything already?" *seems to take the statement at face value, being... young*
<DeathStar> <Soren> Well, I mean, I'm in the palace every day. I get to listen to the Queen and the royals. *She puffs up*
<Seraphna> Terra> We'll learn some neat stuff like I did with Mommas and you did with Kaelan Fox, Nocty.
<Seraphna> **Do tendrils poke at Soren's ankles?**
<Alicia> <Ecne> "I can't wait to learn all the magic from you! ...ah, if you'll teach me."
<DeathStar> *Soren pauses, eyes narrowed a bit, then turns to Ecne* I-I can. Sure. *She puffs up* Follow me. *Edna just looks amused as Soren goes to teach her holy and light spells*
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Hmm... you know Lana, if you have the time, I've been working on a bit of a side project, while I work on my dissertation. It's been mostly classic artificery, but I've been learning some from the precroza tech. It's surprising how much of the technique is applicable, even if it's a different technology."
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ahhhh! I would love to collaborate!"
<Seraphna> Terra> Terra want to learn and teach and share fruits. **She slips on to Fae**
<Alicia> <Ceilidh> "I'm not Lana, but I'd love to collaborate too."
<DeathStar> *Avenir listens to the scientists, following them oddly*
<DeathStar> *Fae thumbs up, going with Terra*

<Seraphna> **Terra waves her arms in horrible karate moves** Bet we could take em!

<Seraphna> *Terra hugs on Edna**
<DeathStar> *Gwen frees Sparkling from the two spirits and tells her to get a backpack ready, and prpare for hiking*
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "H..hiking?"
<DeathStar> <Gwen> You'll see.
<DeathStar> *Peace leans his head out the door* Oh. When you have time - those of you not doing anything, you have an invite to go to Hapian Castle
<DeathStar> *Soren pauses in her training with Ecne, but shrugs, resuming her holy spells training*
<Alicia> * Ecne continues watching, absorbing the technique, though she... well, she would lack the power to duplicate them, if not for her spirit fossil at least.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Come on, Nico! To the lab!"
<DeathStar> *Edna pats Terra*
<Ariel> <Nicolette> *tilts her head* "It was probably assumed I'd be there, but what was the invite about?"
<DeathStar> *Peace eyes the message* IT says her and her mothers wish you to come when you have time; something about checking her house over the past few years and might have found something
<DeathStar> *Gwen begins to go hiking with Sparkling into the woods nearby, making her not use her powers. Melodie and Aimee follow*
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Wait, what? Isn't this about learning new techniques?"
<DeathStar> <Gwen> You will. Trust me
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "And I need to conserve power because...?"
<DeathStar> <Gwen> There are situations where you won't have access to it. *He points at the two tag-alongs* Same for you two. *Melodie huffs*
<DeathStar> *Fae tries to grow a fruit*
<Seraphna> Talia> Which is why it good to get a Gwen. **She pops out of his scartf**

<Alicia> <Sparkling> "I... can still use magi techniques, right...?"

<DeathStar> *Gwen takes Sparkling out to the forest by a river where he begins to show them how to make a campsite*
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Did you have to do this a lot?"
<DeathStar> <Gwen> When I go out on Peacekeeper missions, sure
<DeathStar> <Gwen> And it is winter right now
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "It'd be really easy with a simple fire or lightning spell... but I don't know if that's allowed?"
<DeathStar> *Gwen gets fire started - the old fashioned way after the camp is ready* And if an anti-magic barrier was up?
<DeathStar> <Gwen> Or you were drained?
<DeathStar> <Gwen> Talia will show you how to catch fish from the river for good. *Melodie and Aimee make faces*
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "... I guess..."

<Alicia> * Sparkling pauses. "Actually, the fish thing is a good thing in general. I can't catch fish even with magic right now."
<DeathStar> <Gwen> I admit things have come along way from when we Peacekeepers first started. *He rests his arm on his knee* Not that it's a bad thing. But sometimes it's not bad to know how to know the lay of the land incase you find yourself in back to basics state
<DeathStar> <Gwen> Even Sasha was out there with us when we first began
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Mmm..."
<Seraphna> **Talia nods** Fish catching is the single most important skill ever.
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "I'd argue, but food in general is important."
<DeathStar> <Avenir> You want...ride to castle?
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Ah, would you, Ave? That'd be convenient."
<Seraphna> Talia> Fish is sacred.
<DeathStar> *Avenir takes Nicolette and Lana to Hapian Castle doorsteps*
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ah, thank you." *adjusts her glasses*
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Wherever you go, you need food."
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Thank you, Ave." She pets the spirit on the head, and goes to open the door.

<DeathStar> *Avenir beams and Kito greets them as they step inside* <Kito> Ah, Lady Nicolette. Lana. This way. *She moves along, taking them upstairs*
<Alicia> * Sparkling eats the jerky, considering.

<DeathStar> *Kito takes them to a study where Celes and Selena are discussing something, books out among them; Celes leans back in her seat with tea in her hand, while outside snow hits the windows*

<Ariel> * Nicolette gives a flourished bow and a smile, "Your majesty."
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ahhhh... I'm here too."

<Alicia> <Sparkling> "I don't know how to put it into words."
<Ariel> * Nicolette slides into a seat, "So, you found something interesting?"
<DeathStar> <Selena> We will get right into it; after encountering the Proto Croza equipment a few years back and studying it as well as the fossils coming back as they have been lately, at first mother and I thought we really had nothing we could offer. Other helping regular the fossil trade and help the Academy prepare for the serpent's coming any day now, we did not think there was much left. I have working on the Alliance and keeping the spirits good name up, for example
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Is it scary for you, being somewhere where nothing you can do does anything?"
<DeathStar> <Celes> But, as my daughter pointed out, something was bugging me a little. As you know, Aska had a great hand in building this place. The location and connecting it to the spirit realm
<DeathStar> *Gwen muses* I might not be the strongest or the smartest fighter here anymore, but at the end of the day, I plan to do what I always do best.
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "And if that didn't work?"
<DeathStar> <Gwen> It still wouldn't matter to me; my goal has always been to protect those closest to me. Even if that means going down swinging.
<DeathStar> <Gwen> As long as they're fine, I'm fine
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "... oh... I... won't pry any more." *seems to recover* "Lets talk about happy things instead!"
<DeathStar> *Celes brings up the map of the castle*
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Mmhmm. I... might have accidently wandered into the spirit realm once while going for a midnight snack..."
<DeathStar> <Celes> Yes, it is a unique structure; Aska had it built in a location where the spirit realm runs strong. I think she did it almost subconsciously. There's not a lot in this castle's lower levels I do not know, since I had it built. But the ground it's on, that's the interesting part. This is one of the few points you can walk into the spirit realm without the spirits letting you in
<Jackieness> <Lana> "...was this the location of the ancient castle from the Croza period?"
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Oh? Aska wasn't the reason the realms cross here? That hasn't been a subject I've been able to study up on."
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "So, what's next?"
<DeathStar> <Selena> She might have been, but she might not have been. We think the spirits might have been born here. Hence the weakness and why Aska planted herself here
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ahhhh... then this could be the spot where we saw that primitive sprite being born."
<DeathStar> <Celes> *nods a bit to Lana and glances over the castle's original map* We've been trying to learn more about the realm itself but we don't have the tools like you do nor do we have it to verify why this spot is so special
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "So... what I'm hearing, is that I'm going to be spending more time at the castle for a while."
<DeathStar> <Selena> I'll make sure you have whatever you need. Aska and Soren will be sure to answer whatever you need, too, but Aska herself seems to just state she did it to protect the realm as part of the pact
<Jackieness> <Lana> "I had a lab in this castle that I used while we stayed here. Its a hidden room that I stumbled upon by accident."
<DeathStar> *Gwen nods* <Gwen> We'll go over some training
<DeathStar> <Gwen> I'll show you how to fight with minimal powers
<DeathStar> *Gwen cooks the fish first though*
<DeathStar> <Celes> This castle has a ton of hidden rooms; you want to know a secret?
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "I might be able to find some info on the first spirit, as well, if your theory is right."
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Yes?"
<DeathStar> <Celes> Due to it being partially in the spirit realm, when it was being first constructed, Aska and I purposely designed it so that certain parts of the castle were ever changing. So certain rooms would appear when most needed, or would never appear to hide stuff from enemies. Like my own mother.
<DeathStar> <Celes> It's why the spirit realm portions of the castle can feel the most confusing
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Clearly they were hiding the food from you, Nico."
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "H-hey, when it's dark, a lot of these halls look the same..."
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Minimal powers... I don't know how to feel about that."
<DeathStar> <Gwen> You'd be surprised when you put all your strength at the most opportune moment, then back off. I'll show you. *holds out the fish*
<DeathStar> *Celes seems amused while Kito has brought tea, and snacks*
<DeathStar> <Kito> I will make sure to have extra rooms prepared for you.
<DeathStar> <Avenir> And me! Want to be sciencey
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Wait, isn't that... 'then back off'? Is that the important part?"
<Jackieness> <Lana> "I'll go get my old lab opened back up for business."
<DeathStar> <Gwen> Hm, alright. *Tosses her a stick and holds one himself* Try to hit me with the stick
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Alright, Ave. Count yourself in."
<DeathStar> *Avenir yays. Meanwhile, abck at the Academy*
<DeathStar> *Terra and Fae a trying to plant seeds in the snow*
<DeathStar> <Edna> ...
<Alicia> * Sparkling does so, seemingly adding a magical girl baton vibe to the strike
<DeathStar> *Gwen holds it up to casually block, adding no real strength to it as he rolls the block to deflect it away. It's clear he's just rolling it away; then when it's deflected it, he strikes rapidly and whaps her on the forehead and goes back to a lazy stance*
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "...which bit was backing off?"
<DeathStar> <Gwen> It might not work for everyone, but I try to not waste a lot of power. I personally don't have a lot
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "I've never been good at... doing more than going full strength."
<DeathStar> <Gwen> I try to deflect what's thrown my way with as little energy as possible, then strike quick and hard, then back off, and resume
<DeathStar> <Gwen> You go full strength right away, it might work if you got a lot of cover.
<DeathStar> <Gwen> But if you're on your own, you might not reach your target
<DeathStar> <Gwen> Come at me full strength
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Isn't that going to work the exact same as last time?"
<DeathStar> <Gwen> I'm giving you permission to go all out
<DeathStar> <Gwen> Hit me
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "With the stick, right?"
<Seraphna> **Terra raises dirt over the snow**
<DeathStar> <Gwen> If you want to use the stick, or your wand
<DeathStar> <Gwen> All you got to do is tag me
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Well, I'll avoid... oh no." *Sparkling tries the same as last time, except pulling back before hitting, in order to try to swing her wand with her other hand once Gwen is committed*
<DeathStar> *Gwen lazily stands back, keeping an eye on the stick; then he shifts to eye the wand as he raises up to block the stick shifting backwards* Now. *he calls out*
<Seraphna> **Talia bursts out with her own strike, the old Gwen and Talia one two**
<Alicia> * Sparkling does her best to connect with the wand
<DeathStar> *Talia and Sparkling ironically hit each other*
<DeathStar> *Gwen pauses, then leans over to tap Sparkling on the forehead*
<DeathStar> *Kito leads the two into their rooms*
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "... that could've worked..."

<DeathStar> <Gwen> Possibily. That's the thing going solo and all out. Next time have wing men.

<DeathStar> <Gwen> It's why I usually don't go all out unless I know I have someone with me
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "... oh. That's a different lesson than I thought."

<DeathStar> *Selena walks with Nicolette and Lana* So, if the first one was born here, you think this will lead you to them?
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "It'd be a miracle if it's that simple, but anything we could find would be huge. There's almost no records of their existance out there."
<Jackieness> <Lana> "And the first spirit we saw was more akin to a sprite than a full spirit in the modern sense."
<DeathStar> <Selena> Well, hopefully you two and Ceilidh can find some clues
<Jackieness> <Lana> "This is exciting."
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "I wasn't sure we'd find another lead in our lifetimes~."

<DeathStar> <Selena> I know the Peacekeepers right now are in a bit of a mess. The Alliance is trying to find a good replacement for Lumi still. Until then, I'll back the funding that you might need
