<@DeathStar> *while they group is talking, Melodie and Aimee drag themselves over to their ship, trying to be sneaky and begin to prepare it to fly up to Kumen, as this session is taking place the same day as the Kumen session. They pile into their ship and take off as steathily as they can - which means they make a lot of noise as they take off. Mireille watches them go*

<@Jackieness> <Lana> "So the idea was to check the new location to see what they may have that could be keeping the monsters away."
<@DeathStar> *Lumi looks at the data* Only Keeper location in the Naturalist land was the one they destroyed
<@Jackieness> <Lana> "Well...yes...a Keeper location. But they have soemthign stashed somewhere that we need to look at."
<@DeathStar> <Lumi> So that answers my question then, you plan to start with the Naturalist and look for how they are keeping the monsters away
<@DeathStar> <Zayne> You know - the obvious answer could be they have an alliance with them
<@DeathStar> <Zayne> And there is no mysterious anything

<@DeathStar> <Lumi> There's only a handful of cities in the Naturalist Kingdom. A River Village, which is where Sylph used to live, a Port Village used for trading, and the capital Forest City. I suggest the capital if you are going to make any progress - it's the only one of the three that is of any actual size

<@DeathStar> <Zayne> The Naturalist is a kingdom that has always hated technology, but since their new leader has come to power, they have taken to destroying all technology - spirit or magic, or anything - if they saw this ship they would destroy it.
<@DeathStar> <Zayne> The leader's name is River. As you saw, they even destroyed that Keeper base that they had previously just walled off and tried to ignore forever.
<@Jackieness> <Lana> "A disservice to future geenrations, by the way!"
<@DeathStar> <Zayne> How they manged it, is a mystery. How they are not being attacked by the monsters under the Magic Emperor - is a mystery, when all the other Kingdoms have been attacked so far
<@Alicia> <Yoiyami> "Maybe the Magic Emperor hates technology too."
<@Seraphna> Terra> Maybe lack of tech?
<@DeathStar> <Zayne> That's not a bad theory, but there are signs he uses magi-tech

<@DeathStar> <Azif> That is a possibility. On the hating others having technology. If the Magic Emperor has access to older magic technology we do not understand, he might not want others ot have it

<@DeathStar> <Selena> Well, after learning we may be dealing with someone that could be working with the enemy, or at the very least, might have something that could be keeping the enemy away from their territory but isn't sharing it - it makes it hard to decide how you want to approach them

<@DeathStar> <Shin> You have a plan of approach?
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Well, plan is a strong word. I'd knock on the door and ask to talk to River."
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "And then ask why this place is being spared from the monster attacks."
<@DeathStar> <Selena> The trader did say something about him liking direct action, but do you think he will really give up such information?
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "If we're clear about having no intent to deprive him of his protection, I hope so."

<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Yeah, that might be safest." She ponders, "Ori, can you stick with Sel? If there's any trouble, I want both of you to get away."

<Ariel> <Nicolette> *waves* "Ah, hi there. We're here to speak with Rivers. Can you let him know he has visitors?"
<@DeathStar> *the guard sizes Nicolette up, then he steps into the manor after a moment; he soon returns and motions the two to step inside*
<Ariel> <Nicolette> *tips her hat* "Thank you." *heads inside*
<@DeathStar> *inside the manor, various tiger werebeast tribal stuff is all over the place. Shin studies the various tiger related material in the waiting area for guests until a human maid steps up, bowing* <Maid> This way, please. *she turns to lead them further into the manor*
<Ariel> * Nicolette tilts her head slightly at the surprise of having a human maid, but otherwise keeps her composure. "Of course." She follows the girl in.
<@DeathStar> *as they arrive upstairs, Nicolette would see that seemingly, River has employed quite a few of the human population of the Naturalist to be maids, despite being a tiger werebeast. He studies Nicolette, sizing her up, then waves a hand for them to depart the room as he looks over Shin and Nicolette* <River> I know you. Some would say you were the former queen's right hand.
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "It's nice to make your acquaintance, River. I'm Nicolette." She gives a practiced bow.
<@DeathStar> *River nods, glancing over the two with an almost predator like gaze - well, he is a tiger* <River> It is my pleasure. So, what can I help you with today, my lady Nicolette?
<Ariel> * Nicolette replies in a friendly, but level tone, "I'm sure you're aware of the state of things in the other kingdoms, with the increase of monster attacks. We were hoping you could tell us how you've kept this kingdom from falling under attack like the others."
<@DeathStar> <River> Ah, right to the point. *he leans forward, hands clapsing together* I am curious why one such as yourself would want to know? I admit I am not the best when it comes to attending those boring meetings, but last I heard, you were vanished after your Queen died. Some even whispered you might had had a hand in it, but since the current Queen never laid any charges out, the rumors died down after awhile. But --- seeing as you live, you clearly never went back to the Hapian service.
<Ariel> * Nicolette shakes her head, "That's the wrong way to look at it. I never left the Hapian service. It's just, we have a crisis. There's no sense heading back to the capital until I have some solutions to offer. It doesn't matter if it's Celes, Selena or Sasha; They all know I'll do whatever I can to help."
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "So... yeah, I've been neglecting my day job. But I'm not neglecting my duties."
<@DeathStar> *River leans back* Interesting phrasing. Yes. I have a way to stop the monster attacks. It's just that, despite the other Kingdom's curiousity and accusations, it's not something I can share. The range is not far enough
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "So it's a 'thing', after all." She nods. "Alright. First thing, I want to assure you that I have absolutely zero interest in depriving your people of their protection. That would be a really crummy thing to do, and I couldn't abide anyone trying that. But... could you tell me how you're doing it? It might be something we can find a way to replicate."
<@DeathStar> *River studies her, as if judging how truthful she is, then rises to his feet* Alright, follow me. I'll show you. It'd be easier. *Shin glances at Nicolette as River steps out into the hall where his maids have been waiting, looking as if they were ready to step in if he called for help*
<Ariel> <Nicolette> *follows after River* "Thanks, I appreciate this."
<@DeathStar> *River steps out of the manor and looks around, then heads around to the back of the manor toward what looks to be a garden area*
<@DeathStar> *at the back of the garden, a large rock is present, coverign what looks to be an entrance. Two more tiger guards are there and he motions, and using a system of pulleys they begin to pull the rock aside.* <River> Inside here. *he lights a torch and begins to move inside the damn cave*
<Ariel> <Nicolette> *follows carefully* "This looks pretty old..."
<@DeathStar> <River> Yes. This cave system is actually a tomb system for leaders of the Naturalist. *He waves the flames around to show the various tunnels.* <Shin> This place indeed reeks of death. <River> What better place to hide it. *He leads the them down various passages with stone tombs on either side of them until at the very end they reach a shrine* <River> I placed the object here. *on top of it is an object much like the one Nicolette stole in the monster tunnels - a large unknown magic tech like object* <River> I also keep it here due to what it is. Technology. Cursed technology that could be the end of us despite it's usefulness.
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "I see. It's... that." She frowns some. "How does it keep them away? I would have expected it to be a beacon to them more than anything."
<@DeathStar> <River> When we located it, we were actually were attempting to destroy it. But the accursed thing would not break. While attempting to find a way to do so, I was thinking about the monster attacks and how to defend my people, the thing began to --- work. It connected with me and suddenly I realized it was protecting my people, like it was making my desire come true. After a few tests the range seemed to be just my lands though. So we put it in the caves - out of sight
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "So... how much do you know about it?"
<@DeathStar> <River> We have not the capability to learn much. We assumed it came from that accursed Keeper facility. There is not any other place here that could produce such a thing
<@DeathStar> <River> Yes, I read the reports from the alliance
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Alright. Well... how much privacy do we have right now?"
<@DeathStar> *River turns and glances down the tunnels with the flames, making sure no one has followed them, then turns back* We are the only three here. *Shin nods, backing that up*
<Ariel> * Nicolette casts a spell to still the earth and air in a bubble around them, so sound won't travel, and nods in satisfaction when it takes hold. "Alright. You've been straight with me on this, so I want to give you a warning. This device... or more specifically, this part of a device, predates the keepers. You've seen how much power a part of it has, and I'm sure you can understand why it's nature needs to be kept... confidential."
<Ariel> * Nicolette glances back towards the doorway, "The other thing is... the person stirring up the monsters? I'm sure they know more about it than we do. And I expect they're going to want it."
<@DeathStar> *River looks at it* So you think they'll come here for it even with the field up
<Ariel> * Nicolette nods. "The field might keep their monsters out, but their leader is exceptionally powerful. And I expect they'll come for it on their own."
<@DeathStar> <River> And what do you suggest?
<Ariel> * Nicolette sighs and shakes her head, "Honestly? I don't know. Like I said, one reason I haven't returned to the capitol, is I don't have enough answers. I just know that if this Magic Emperor gets his hands on all the pieces, it'll be bad news. Beyond that? Just... protect your people. That's all any of us want."

They are very tiny - a slime or a little mole type monster. But nothing big, and they do not seem to be in large groups. No more than 3 seem capable of gathering together*

Hand made stuff by vendors like cute dolls, there's even some inns here and there. The group comes up on what appears to be a woman with bandages all over her face and wearing a hooded cloak over her body. And on her shoulder is a small spirit that looks a lot like Origin. Both of them are checking out a doll maker vendor. The monster slime is spying on the two, creeping up on them*
