<DeathStar> <Erevis> Not exactly. The language is not exact. It was to save spirits against spirits to transform spirits into spirits. In longform Ancient speak.

<Sathen> Mykel> Ancient is difficult to translate, a single word can have multiple different variations and any one of those variations or all of them might have been the full meaning.
<Sera> Jennifer> So... Spirit can mean multiple things in this language?
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Perhaps. It does make mention of spirits, but also other Ancients. I believe that the Ancients had a sec that broke off and went there own way, and the Ancients in this book began to call them a different name - probably a derogative one
<DeathStar> <Erevis> It seems the other Ancients began to do something with spirits, which the book Ancients found, again I am trying to translate it, offensive? That might be too light
<Sathen> Mykel> The word that we translate as Spirit can also mean other things actually.
<DeathStar> *Erevis eyebrows at Mykel, wondering what he is talking about, but goes on*

<DeathStar> <Erevis> This book was made by the normal Ancients to combat the derogative ones and the spirits. To translate mildly:
<DeathStar> <Erevis> The device saves the spirits of the [derogative ancients] into the spirits of our spirits by transforming them into spirits

<Sara> <Ellie> All this "spirits into spirits by the spirits for the spirits" spirit spirit spirit is making my head hurt
<Sera> Jennifer> "...That sounds a bit... chilling actually."

<ChadWinters> <SPoC> So it was used to repair the damage done more or less. If that's the case, why did Aska not want us to learn about this thing or fix it?
<Sera> Jennifer> "It seems to imply that these people converted spirits into ones that were aligned with them through some kind of forced process."
<Sathen> Mykel> Trust me, when you read it in Ancient it hurts more than when you hear it said aloud.
<Xanatos> <Xan> It is a weapon, it repairs nothing.
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Perhaps they were creating their own spirits much as Kumen does."
<DeathStar> <Erevis> The book later doesn't explain but they seemed unhappy with the results and decided to put the machine away not to be used again. Apparently they were not happy with the results
<DeathStar> <Erevis> I have asked Riki to look into signs that Ancients were on Kumen either way

<Sera> * Jaime squirms a bit and frowns, trying to make sense of it. While Sammael muses on it.

<Sera> Alita> "Perhaps you are both correct there, actually. The results they did not like could have been the destruction of spirits."
<Sera> ALita> "And the writer is simply unwilling to admit fault."

<Xanatos> <Xan> Whenever we destroyed ID with it I saw a brief darkness escape. Whether that was the machine...or something to do with ID I'm not sure.

<Sathen> *Mykel muses for a moment* Could this have been the source for the Death Spirit we had here on Geyze several years ago?

<Orthogon> *Imogen blows wisps of hair out of her face, seemingly playing a game of how far she can manage to blow them. Having had no understanding of the conversation thus far, she seems suddenly perturbed and nearly falls out of her chair when the attention suddenly shifts to her.*

<DeathStar> <Erevis> Apparently it was made in the time of the Ancients - not sure of a spirit made it or the ancients, I am leaning toward the latter. And it seems it comes with a set. The drawings show gloves, *she motions a costume shirt* leggings, and boots.
<DeathStar> <Erevis> If the mask does what it does, it is safe to assume each piece does something as well. Not sure what. And all together, I cannot begin to imagine
<Orthogon> *Imogen bites her thumb at Xan, glaring rather angrily.*

<DeathStar> *Erevis taps the Hapian books* <Erevis> We have been going through the Hapian books and the few books we found in the ice caves. Also, the Hapians have believed that they were the one race that was descendant from the Ancients, due to how long they have been around. <Celes> *she nods* <Selena> Most of the other kingdoms have not been around that long
<Sara> * Liana tilts her head. She's always wondered how much of legends like this were true
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Its our point of pride."
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Thanks to Celes opening the Hapian library, I have been digging through looking to see how much of this was true. And I had Shinobu digging through some of her books, as well as Qui. <Jules> And Mykel has been bugging me
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Well, it might be a bit true, and a bit of a lie. I found a few passages that might change the story a bit

<DeathStar> *Erevis opens one of the older Hapian books that looks ready to fall apart - no wonder the Hapian librarian didn't want Erevis to have it*

<DeathStar> <Erevis> This is a diary entry from the founder of the Hapian Dynasty. "With our world in ruins, and the spirits in disary from their own struggles, me and six companions knew we would be needed to rebuild Geyze. Our sister world was cut off from us for the time being so this world was all we had left to us. Each of us would spread out and try to find a piece of land."
<Sera> Jennifer> Well... they had to all come from somewhere...
<DeathStar> <Erevis> "Since each of us carried in us of Ancient blood, we would form Kingdoms and gather what remained of the populations of the world, be it human, daemon, or the rising werepeople, and try to rebuild and undo the damage that was done. And our Kingdoms would work together to do that. That was our final promise together."

<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Hmmmm... so they were in contact with Kumen before some manner of collapse.. It also implies that all the ruling houses of the major kingdoms are descended from the Ancients."

<Sathen> Mykel> Sounds like their promise to each other didn't last long...
<DeathStar> <Qui> But many of the so-called Kingdoms do not have rulers. Where are these so called Royal families at
<Sera> Alita> Hrm... that... explains something I'd been thinking of for years. Nothing specially important though.

<Sera> Alita> "At the Academy, our team gathered together and slowly it turned out most of our team were Royalty...
<Sathen> Mykel> Either banished or executed, depends on those who took over from them. *looks at Shinobu and the book she pulls out*
<Sera> Alita> "I don't belive in coiincidence. Something drew them together."
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> Due to Celes and Erevis' questions, I began to look into the Daemons' archives too. To see if we had any surviving texts
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Hmmmm..." *leans back*
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> The Daemon Dark Lands have always considered themselves to have even older history than the Hapians. *Celes frowns at that*
<ChadWinters> 6SPoC tilts her head slightly. 1"Geyze has a very confusing history.
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> *she opens books in better shape than the Hapians'* But surprisingly I had to go through a lot of hoops to get into the ancient library. These books are about my people's pasts and only the Empress can read them
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "So what did you discover?"
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> Sharing them could be considered treason. *she notes*
<Xanatos> <Simon> ...are you certain you are willing to take the risk?
<Sera> Alita> "Knowledge is worthless if it is never used."
<ChadWinters> <SPoC>> Knowledge can also be a very dangerous weapon.
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> There are faint notes about something called the Ancient War. It seems the Ancients went to war with themselves and, as it is hard to believe. *she shows the image of spirits, like the wind spirit, earth spirit, and so on*
<Sathen> *Mykel reaches over to pat Shinobu's arm reassuringly*
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> Other spirits
<DeathStar> <Sylph> !! <Shinobu> It might explain why Sylph and Gnome are so young
<ChadWinters> <SPoC> Perhaps this sect of theirs created there own Spirits to use to fight against them
<Sera> * Jaime blinks and looks at it.

<DeathStar> <Shinobu> Maybe. But if that was the case, then it would be like the Kumen spirits I think.
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Hmmm... I suspect that if all of the six kingdoms were to pool their histories, we might finally recover our common history."
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> Going on
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> After the Ancient War, it was said "our sister world was left dead" and the ancients nearly left out, with Geyze suffering near extinction
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> However, life finds a way and new life rose up in it's place - perhaps the Ancients had a hand in it. Werebeasts, the Daemon began to populate more, and so on.
<Sera> * Jennifer perks up. "So... could this war have actually been between Ancients from both worlds?"
<DeathStar> <Erevis> It sounds likely
<Sara> <Liana> In the end, war is the only truly inevitable thing, isn't it...
<Xanatos> <Xan> I mean our lives have been surrounded by war, so you're not far off.
<ChadWinters> <SPoC> So Kumen's populace most likely came from the other sect of Ancients?
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "So then... we have Ancient ruins on our world... I do not recall any discovery of the same on Kumen though."
<Sathen> Mykel> No, Kumen's population were all colonists; before they arrived it was completely dead.
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> The few humans with the Ancient gene, and those without it. Seven heroes/descendants rose up and began to lead the people through trial and tribulation but they knew that it was hopeless to stay together in large groups and save the people, so they made a pact to split up seven ways and make their own kingdoms, that once established
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> They would make trade and friendship
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> That way at least one kingdom would survive
<Sera> Alita> And instead, they all did, but it seems maybe not all the Ancients survived.
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> As a sign of friendship, the seven made a pact with the spirits so each bloodline would have powers, and no matter how weak the bloodline would get, it could be awakened at any time.
<Sera> Alita> "That Pact, magically speaking, may be why our Unit came together as it did."
<Sera> Alita> "Bonds that run so deep that not even mellenia of wear and tear could fully shake them."
<ChadWinters> <SPoC> Has anyone awakened this bloodline ability?

<DeathStar> <Shinobu> There's also signs that a birthmark might appear on the descendants. <Celes> *muses* Sometimes some of the Hapian women have one. Not sure if I technically have one
<Sathen> Mykel> A secondary pact perhaps?
<Sara> <Liana> "No matter how weak the bloodline would get, it could be awakened at any time"... I-I guess I'm familiar with this fact.

<DeathStar> <Shinobu> The book also noted that if as long as the descendants ruled their kingdoms, the spirits' blessings would be there for said kingdom

<DeathStar> <Shinobu> But obviously that must have ended long ago, since some of the kingdoms lost their descendants
<DeathStar> <Qui> And the Ent kingdom no longer has a human ruler. It has an Ent
<ChadWinters> <SPoC> So we can only confirm if this is true with a few of the kingdoms?

<DeathStar> *Qui leans back* My family has been ruling for some time. You can feel free to check my connection with Undine. But that is only 3 of the 7
<Sera> Alita> "Mmm, we also know that with few exceptions most species on Geyze can interbreed, so could it be possible and Ent now holds the bloodline?"
<DeathStar> <Shinobu> Even so, I only bring it up since the families' descendants might have more books
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "And do thee rules still apply if the associated spirit has since been replaced?"

<DeathStar> <Jules> The Legion does not have many books on the ancients. The Republic has not been around that long
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Tell me... what preceded your modern Legion?"
<DeathStar> <Jules> Our first written history notes when we clashed with Hapian, I believe
<DeathStar> <Jules> We were nomadic people
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Hmmm... curious..."
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Hm, I hate to say it but your family is likely not one of the bloodlines then
<Sera> Alita> "Didn't your nation basically settle down and form because Salamander reached out to you?"
<ChadWinters> <SPoC> No rumors of where your people started?
<DeathStar> <Jules> Essentially.
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Perhaps the Legion conquered one of the original kingdoms."
<Sera> Alita> "There is a possibility there then. If my theory holds."
<Sera> Alita> "We didn't come together by accident, perhaps Salamander reached out because of a similarly felt bond with some among those tribes?"
<DeathStar> <Yuki> Or Salamander was a brand new spirit and reachedo ut to them as her first act
<Sathen> Mykel> We can but test and see the outcome.
<Xanatos> 6* Xan twitches everytime the Legion is mentioned.

<DeathStar> <Erevis> I guess each of us can look into the bloodlines. Right now, we pretty much are certain about Celes, Shinobu, and Qui? Or do we need to verify them?
<DeathStar> <Celes> Well, I have the books that date back. <Shinobu> As do I
<Sera> Jennifer> "I"d like to take samples of each of them. This bond may be in their genetic markers."

<Sera> Jennifer> "If so I can probably narrow it down and find a method to detect or identify those with the pact."

At first shock is on her face, but then was he desribes the various scenarios, one can tell Shinobu is losing her temper and shaking with hanger*
