<Seraphna> **Jaime steps inside, barefoot, her green and brown gown which is (not so) secretly made of mud loose over her body, a flower and a twig in her hair**
<DeathStar> <Celes> Well. *She gathers her notes* Here is what we know so far. The main island's inhabitants definitely has familiar blood in them. Something like Bonnie and Chelsea's children, I imagine, and their descendants' bloodlines are diluated. That or they are something. But there is a line to them, it has been long ago
<Jackieness> <Lana> *lays out the scrolls in her lab and starts going through them*
<DeathStar> <Celes> The main island's machine seems to be tech that is ancient and yet advanced. <Erevis> It might be Ancient One - their version of Progenitor.
<Xanatos> <Simon> We're also fairly certain the source of the...negative tech signal...was the location we found on the first island.
<DeathStar> <Celes> And the other island does not feem to have that much but the people who lived there definitely spread out. However, I do believe the islands were closer to the mainland at one point
<Seraphna> Jaime> And there's hints that that technology is holding something back or down from getting away if we turn it off.
<DeathStar> *Celes glances at Liana, then at the others*
<DeathStar> <Celes> I'm not so sure if that is the case, Jaime. That is speculation
<DeathStar> <Celes> We've been all over the islands and we have seem no sign of anything "escaping". The Ancient phrasing could mean something completely different
<Seraphna> Jaime> Well... I have a habit of believing warning signs when they're posted. Get in less accidents that way. **she huffs a bit**
<Xanatos> <Simon> We're currently erring on the side of caution either way.
<DeathStar> <Erevis> We do not dismiss the warning. But we do not necessarily need to think that it is something physical. It could mean the world might just end
<Seraphna> Alita> It COULD have been a means of keeping Kumen at bay, which it did for ages.

<DeathStar> <Celes> The fact is the machine when activated will herald a change of things and there is no going back. A terrible fate that will be unleashed when it is done could mean many things

<Seraphna> Alita> True, sometimes prophecy and prose name any time of change as an "End Times" when all they mean is the end of a PARTICULAR time. All endings lead to change.

<Seraphna> Jaime> Well... I suppose since the device disrupts the spirits somewhat and is draining that energy, I should be pro-pushing-the-button really.
<Xanatos> <Simon> We have handled many difficult things in the past. I trust we are up to the task to handle whatever this may cause or create. I simply worry the effect it may have on any innocents in the area. Those children are...surviving. But what could this do to them, is what I wonder.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "...talking about the secrets of the island?"
<DeathStar> *Lumi looks at each of them* Liana? Simon?
<DeathStar> *Celes peers at Lana, wondering if she lives in her own world*
<Sara> <Liana> The spirits are the most important part of Geyze...
<Sara> <Liana> The very foundation of our world.
<Sara> <Liana> I don't like risking them.
<Seraphna> **Jaime nods in agreement** Though they are slowly at risk right now... from the crystals we found, that device is slowly draining away spirit energy.
<DeathStar> <Lumi> *nods* Very well. I authorize you all to go back and study the machine
<Jackieness> <Lana> "I want to go too!" *raise sher hand*
<DeathStar> <Lumi> And decide if you want to do something. *she rises, to inform the Council so any leaders like Sasha can go if they want*

<Seraphna> **Jaime peers at the runes quietly, and the Dark rune, sighing a bit, since she knows better, then rises** Me too.
<Xanatos> 6* Simon nods and begins to gather up his papers, to place them away properly.
<DeathStar> *Celes eyes the runes* Have we ever made any progress on these things?
<DeathStar> *Cypher is outside, sitting near Nicolette and playing cards with some student and making money, waiting for the need of the Mew Mew*
<Seraphna> Jaime> We know a lot about them to begin with... our team's been using them for decades. Being able to use one requires an elemental attunement to it. For instance, if it wasn't suicide I could use the Dark Rune, Alita could use the Fire Rune, and so on. The Light Rune is easily probably useable by any of Aska's bonded.
<DeathStar> *Selena trips over herself to get ready, heading to her room and begins to dress hastily, back outside and near the front door*
<DeathStar> <Celes> So we haven't learned anything new.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "But I think Celes wants to know how they tick. We still don't know that."
<Seraphna> Jaime> They feel like the spirits. And seeing as how the spirits were born from crystals in the Spirit Pool... it might not take a leap to determine the Runes are our version of the Spirits... or at least a facsimile.
<DeathStar> <Cele> Ellie told me that the runes made Sylph feel funny
<Seraphna> **Jaime nods** Gnome too.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "So far, theories include the rpesence of some sort of primordial elemental spirit inside them. Another is that they link to some alternate dimension... maybe liek your spirit world but more... mmm... I don't know... fundamental?"

<Seraphna> Jaime> Oh, a lot like spirits, time working with one increases how well you can use the power.

<Jackieness> <Lana> "We should see if they share anything in common with the spirit crystals found on Geyze."
<Seraphna> Alita> The Spirits were formed from Crystals too. The crew of the Aquarius found their birthplace and used the crystals and pool to revive Chronos.

<Ariel> <Nicolette> "...I really need more history classes." She turns the rune over in her hand, "I also feel like there should be a way to talk to it for some reason."
<DeathStar> *landing at the edge of it, Aimee and her sister look tired and refuse to leave the ship*

<Seraphna> Jaime> I'm surprised you didn't bring the Holy Rune with you, Celes.

<Xanatos> 6* Simon gets to his feet and moves to steps off of the ship.
<Seraphna> **Jaime nods and gets up** You should work with that one a bit to get an understanding, I'm pretty sure you're a Holy Element due to Aska.
<Sara> <Liana> Take care of the ship. We'll see you soon.

<DeathStar> *Celes muses* You know once we deal with the island thing we can have Ellie join us once again. Because Sylph will start coming here again

<Sara> <Liana> Yeah... For the time being though, we've gotta do what we've gotta do.
<Seraphna> **Jaime nods** While the machine is active the Spirits get drained away... so we'll need to turn it off for that to happen, or find out a way to control the drain.
<DeathStar> *Celes steps off - the island would look emptyish outside the woods and the cave up north*
<Jackieness> <Lana> "We need to study the tehcnology first*

<Ariel> * Nicolette holds the rune up to her ear, trying to feel the pulse of the energy of the rune.
<DeathStar> *to Nicolette, it would appear to be a depressing island. There ahs been signs of a storm having come through here recently, the island having burnt marks all over from some super storm*

<Xanatos> 6* Simon takes a second to get his bearings before walking in the direction of the cave entrance to the facility

<Jackieness> <Lana> "Hmmm... the field doesn't seem to offer protection from the weather."

<Xanatos> <Simon> OH, perhaps instead of a spirit or mana crystal, they're actually a spirit fossil, they simply regain power instead of being used up? 6* He says as if he had an empiphany.
<DeathStar> <Celes> I believe the people heer say that storms come through here that are dangerous and do damage to the land, hence them hiding underground
<Jackieness> <Lana> "It was like this before. The trees bleed black goo."

<DeathStar> *they reach the entrance to the cave with the winding path inside*
<DeathStar> *Celes peers in and goes to make a stick and wraps it up to make a torch*

<Ariel> <Nicolette> "So, like... this place is pulling in spiritual energy, and then it's like... rotting?"
<DeathStar> <Erevis> I am not sure. Maybe it is the storms, maybe it is like you say
<Xanatos> <Simon> Rotting it...hm, perhaps.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Maybe the suppression of the spirit energy is causing the blight."
<DeathStar> <Erevis> It is said the spirits are tied to the life line of this world
<DeathStar> <Erevis> I read that
<Seraphna> Jaime> My only other theory is a bit wild, and it has to do with Mom's theory about the Ancient Ones.
<DeathStar> <Celes> It is true. If the spirits died, that element would die for Geyze
<Seraphna> Alita> When Undine died for a time the world experienced a drought.
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Energy needs to FLOW. If the energy of the world is blocked off and entrapped, you get... you get something like Kumen."
<Sara> <Liana> Stagnation.
<DeathStar> *Celes nods* Yes. It is why Kumen had to get it's own spirits
<DeathStar> *as they work their way down the path they see beautiful crystls in the wall and Selena eyes them again*
<DeathStar> <Celes> I believe Kumen got it's crystals due to Undine's death being the cause until Brooke was born

<Seraphna> Jaime> Those are spirit crystals... they're slowly draining and I think powering the machine.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Which brings us to why the Ancients would intentionally cosntruct such a field generator."
<DeathStar> <Selena> Clearly they need a lot of spirit energy
<Seraphna> Jaime> If we removed them the drain would probably extend much further and faster.

<Jackieness> <Sasha> "It seems they are either not spirit crystals afterall... or they are of a type that the machine cnnot drain."

<DeathStar> <Celes> So if they are like alternate forms, what does that mean?

<Seraphna> **Alita looks to Sasha** I can bring them all back to the shuttle if you'd like.

<Seraphna> Jaime> That they really might be our reality's version of the spirits.
<Seraphna> Jaime> Which... further means there are "versions" of things between both realities.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Worth exploring."
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Not alone. Go together woth someone else just in case."
<DeathStar> <Erevis> If that is the case, and the runes are like our Spirits - it can mean 1 of 2 things. Our versions of "spirits" are runes. To be used like that. Or 2, they were trapped in those runes
<Seraphna> **Alita muses and tries to feel if the rune has some kind of conciousness**
<DeathStar> *Erevis nods, going with Alita back to the ship with the runes*
<Xanatos> <Simon> Perhaps Xanatos can use that machine on them that revived one of the dark spirits.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Let's get to work studying this equipment."
<Seraphna> Jaime> So... if the Ancient Ones are your reality's Progenitors... where are the Dark Ones... **she frowns a bit**

<DeathStar> <Erevis> WE will no doubt learn more about them as time goes on
<Seraphna> Alita> This feels a bit like a spirit. But it's very faint.
<DeathStar> *they reach the bottom and see a giant machine as well as the machine that looks like Simon's device*
<Ariel> * Nicolette hands back the rune that she had been probing
<Jackieness> <Lana> *moves over to start looking everything over*
<DeathStar> *Erevis muses and nods as she leaves with Alita*
<DeathStar> <Selena> So ... what do we do now?
<Xanatos> 6* Simon looks back over the machine, re-familiarizing himself with how to shut off.
<Sara> <Liana> I think we need to stop this thing, frankly. Simon, you already on it?
<DeathStar> <Celes> I confess I do not know much about machines
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "It seems there is not much to do except let them work."
<Seraphna> Jaime> We either shut it off or find another way to power it I think. It does feel like if we leave it on it'll eventually effect the Spirits.
<Xanatos> <Simon> I am. But in the meantime if anyone wants to look around to see if they can get some additional information...
<Sara> <Liana> You heard the man.
<Sara> <Liana> Let's look around and let him work.
<Seraphna> **Jaime nods and starts looking around while Talia, Ace Detective, starts inspecting things**
<DeathStar> *the giant machine looks like a portal of sorts, round and Stargateish, hooked up and depowered, with Simon's dampening field off to the side* (re-reading the last session with this in it, since no logs, give me a split second)

<DeathStar> *the portal one looks like the one to the Spirit Realm, etc, and Nicolette would recognize it due to her books*
<DeathStar> *the portal one seems to be broken down in places, but could be repaired in time if one can figure it out; Simon's device is just a giant version of his design*
<Ariel> * Nicolette moves to take a closer look, "I did not expect..." She blinks.
<Xanatos> <Simon> I would like to see if this device actually creates a portal, but I fear activating it could drain more than just the spirit crystals..
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Assuming it even works."
<Xanatos> <Simon> True, it does look...ragged.
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "Why is there a portal to the spirit realm in a place that spirits can't visit?"
<Jackieness> <Lana> "And if this worl'd spirit worl is no longer accessible or even exists, there may not be anything for it to open a portal to."
<DeathStar> <Celes> A good question. <Selena> It looks a little different in some ways. But it is very close
<DeathStar> <Selena> Maybe it is an older model?
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "A good thought, Selena. Like alot of these discarded machines."
<DeathStar> <Celes> Or maybe it is not to the Spirit Realm, but uses it
<DeathStar> <Selena> Still I know the Spirits wants to return the Spirit Realm since Shade and Vyvy uncovered it was still out there.
<Seraphna> Jaime> My thought was that it was drawing power out of the spirit realm.
<Sara> <Liana> Worse, what if it *drains* it?
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "I know this machine is ancient, but is there any way to tell HOW ancient?"
<Seraphna> **Jaime nods**
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Totally possible!"
<Xanatos> <Simon> Hm. This is troubling.
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "what is it, Simon?"
<DeathStar> <Celes> It has to be at least as old as the Ancient War, since this is Ancient Tech I think
<DeathStar> <Celes> So 12,000 years?
<DeathStar> *she peers at Simon*
<Xanatos> <Simon> This machien is easily...ages or more in age. But as I go over it, it seems almost exactly the design I made to COUNTER this effect. Almost as if I designed it myself.
<Ariel> <Nicolette> "So... not ancient enough to be how so many spirits came to be on Geyze?"
<Sara> <Liana> That... is troubling.
<Seraphna> Jaime> I hope we’re not dealing with time travel shenanigans.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Are we in a stable time loop?!"
<Xanatos> <Simon> I could disable it by removing this connection right here. Almost trivial to stop but without knowledge of how it was crafted...it would at least take time and study.
<DeathStar> <Celes> *pauses and eyes Simon, thinking* If I had to guess, Nicolette... After the Ancient War, most of the Spirits were dead due to the Ancients fighting each other. Only 4 were alive. The Aska, Shade, and Void and Chronos
<Xanatos> 6* Simon's eye flickers and he glances to Celes at that.
