<Alicia> <Charlotte> "I wouldn't be surprised."
<DeathStar> <Ren> We'll be counting on Noire's to keep Aka well fed
<Jackieness> <Noire> "...mmmm...of course."
<DeathStar> *Ren feeds her daughter some as Taiga arrives&
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Though would there be any mysteries left to solve?"
<Alicia> * Akatsuki waves, mouth full of food
<DeathStar> <Ren> Stastically, there are new mysteries being made every day
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Then why are you not getting them for us?"
<DeathStar> <Ren> Like on the PAX, people claim that there are skittering sounds being heard on the lower decks
<DeathStar> <Ren> Well, I've been so busy lately with Striker business. Maybe when it lightens up
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmm... that is probbaly just Myria in the vents again."
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Well, after we get this Heart business locked down and Kaori, we should be done. I been trying to get in touch with the Arcana Dragoons and your Alternate counterpart
<DeathStar> <Taiga> But I'm getting nothing, so I thought we should check in while Wind's reality seems to be finished
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Barring locating Wind for the latter."
<DeathStar> <Taiga> True
<DeathStar> *she prepares the gate*
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Right. Strikers, suit up!"
<Jackieness> <Noire> *goes to do so*
<DeathStar> *Ren dumps her left overs into subspace*
<DeathStar> *then suits*
<DeathStar> *Taiga leaves Aurica behind with the gate* <Ren> You're coming?
<DeathStar> <Taiga> ... lets go. *she moves through*
<Jackieness> <Noire> "MMmmm?" *alks through*
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "That's new." *suits up and heads through too*
<DeathStar> <Ren> Yeah. Lately she's been hating to go
<DeathStar> *They arrive in a destroyed looking part of the city, thanks riding aroung; Taiga holds up her device*
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Alright, let me lead you all to where the Arcana should be held up.
<DeathStar> <Ren> Geeze, the city is looking a mess lately.
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Cheryl really made a mess."
<Jackieness> <Noire> "They must be fighting in the city."
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "... we didn't fix that?"
<DeathStar> <Ren> Technically Cheryl isn't behind this battle
<DeathStar> <Ren> Lines pirates
<DeathStar> *Line's
<DeathStar> <Ren> It's Zeo's Illiums who seized power
<DeathStar> *Zao
<DeathStar> <Taiga> They probably used the chaos of the the pirates and Nyarlathotep to do it
<DeathStar> *saying Nyarl's full name makes the world darken*
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "... meh."
<DeathStar> <Ren> ... Did anyone else feel that?
<Jackieness> <Noire> "MMmmm... speak of the devil and he will appear."
<DeathStar> *As they walk, a hover craft with a beam begins to fly overhead*
<DeathStar> <Ren> ... *looks around, spying rubble all over*
<Jackieness> <Noire> "We should stay out of public."
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Especially after that."
<DeathStar> *Taiga ducks down by the rubble and pulls Ren down*
<DeathStar> <Taiga> We're almost to their location. *She points at a building across the way*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *moves behind cover*
<DeathStar> *it continues it's flight path as Ren pulls Charlotte down*
<DeathStar> *Ren foxholes across the street to the door*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *moves through the foxhole*
<Alicia> * Charlotte stays hidden, heading through
<DeathStar> *Taiga tries the door, but finds something blocking it from the other side*
<DeathStar> <Taiga> ... *glances down the street; a patrol headed their way, but still not noticing them - yet*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *whisper* "Its sealed."
<DeathStar> <Taiga> We need to get in. *eyes windows, trying door again, a thunk sound heard*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *checks a window*
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Can't we just bypass the door?"
<DeathStar> *it is on the second floor and one can break through*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *uses her tendrils to raise herself up to get in through th window*
<DeathStar> *The window gives her trouble, being the type that opens outward; but after a bit, it pops open, knocking her back a bit*
<Alicia> * Charlotte tries to just shadowport inside
<DeathStar> *Charlotte poofs inside*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *uses tendrils to pull herself in and start pulling the others up*
<Alicia> * Charlotte helps, from inside
<DeathStar> *Taiga and Ren climb up with Noire's help. From the second floor balcony, they see the body of Haruki leaning against the door*
<DeathStar> *Illium blast shots and blood still trinkling from her corpse*
<Jackieness> <Noire> "...beasts."
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Where are the others?
<DeathStar> *Ren scans where they are - it seems to be a warehouse*
<DeathStar> *Ren and Taiga begin to move further into the building* <Ren> I think I hear something
<Jackieness> <Noire> *moves with them*
<Alicia> * Charlotte follows, moving into a hiding spot to ambush whoever's coming... just in case
<DeathStar> *the warehouse is surprisingly spare, though in the back there is some large crates. Ren and Taiga slow down as they approach them*
<DeathStar> *Ren leans around the corner finding an injured Haru with her sides missing from the same blasts, wrapped up, leading Katrina and Aya down into a self-made hole. Unmei is dragging Gemi along, though she doesn't seem to be moving that much*
<DeathStar> <Haru> We need to circle back to the palace's underground after that rukus we made up top, or this will be for nothing
<DeathStar> *she wobbles a bit as she hops down*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *steps out* "Well...it seems you need our help."
<DeathStar> *Unmei blinks* I-It's them.
<DeathStar> *Taiga checks Gemi and shakes her head at the small Arcana Dragoon, finding something to put over Gemi's face and pull her away*
<DeathStar> <Katrina> Ah. And you showed up anyway. *Ren moves to hop down into the hole*
<Jackieness> <Noire> "We lost contact and came to investigate." *follows them down the hole*
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Why didn't you contact us about this operation? <Haru> We didn't want you involved. It's most likely a one way mission to stop Zao and his people. No reason to have you Strikers brought down with us.
<DeathStar> <Aya> He's been on top of this almost every step of the way
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Have you any idea how?"
<DeathStar> <Aya> I was hoping to get Katrina close to get a scan of his mind before we killed him
<DeathStar> <Taiga> The one time we don't have Adeline
<DeathStar> *she looks at Charlotte*
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "I'm still not that practiced, but I'll do my best."
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmm... do you expect to find anything in that head of his?"
<DeathStar> <Aya> I don't know. Zao could be a bit of a jerk, but even though his fathe was an Illium, his mother was Ao.
<DeathStar> <Aya> I'd like to think that would mean he wouldn't do this
<DeathStar> <Katrina> The Emperor of the Illiums, mind you
<DeathStar> <Aya> Who killed Ao.
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "I'd like to think Cheryl wouldn't have done what she did."
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmm... perhaps he is under some influence."
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "... I wouldn't be surprised."
<DeathStar> *The Arcana that remain pause at mention of Cheryl*
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmmmm?"
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Bad tendencies can be driven into... that sort of thing."
<DeathStar> <Unmei> Well, she's like our mother
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Yeah... I understand."
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Is Cheryl still alive in this universe?
<DeathStar> <Haru> Yeah. Hopefuly with what's been happening, she should be ... home soon.
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "... I don't think so."
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "... Oh. Maybe I'm mistaken."
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Wrong Cheryl, my bad."
<DeathStar> *Taiga taps her chin* I wonder. Please lead the way.. *Haru, Gemi, and Unmei contiue onward with AYa and KAtrina down the tunnel*
<DeathStar> <Taiga> From what I remember being a kid. *To the Strikers*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *follows along*
<DeathStar> <Taiga> This Cheryl might a heart if we're going be Noire's logic.
<DeathStar> <Ren> Huh?
<DeathStar> *Taiga follows a little bit behind to talk*
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Charlotte?
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Mmm?"
<DeathStar> <Taiga> How much did your mom tell you about the incident at Centerpoint?
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "She's pretty big on that story, for some reason."
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Well Xevil attempted to do his machinations at it and was defeated on it - the first time. The whole thing was destroyed, game over.
<DeathStar> <Taiga> History continues like normal - here.
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "So, that's the turning point..."
<DeathStar> <Taiga> But Xevil at the last moment infected Centerpoint and made the multiverse corrupted in his image
<DeathStar> <Taiga> And so Cheryl went through it trying to cure it of him, but realized it was impossible
<DeathStar> <Taiga> So she used the PAX to go back in time - I'm still not sure how - and went back to that moment he was on Centerpoint and killed him before he could infect the multiverse, causing this reality to be born. The Alternate series of events
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "I wondered why I'd never heard of the corruption."
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Probably because Xevil in both realities was killed before the corruption was made. It's only in logs made by those who were there to witness it
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Like my mom
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Anyway, So the question comes down to - and you can all think on this
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmm... no wonder grandmother is paranoid about Xevil."
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Would Alternate Cheryl have reality powers?
<DeathStar> <Taiga> I would think so
<DeathStar> <Ren> This makes my head spin
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "... do you think she's...?"
<DeathStar> <Ren> I think she might not be aware of it due to how Prime Cheryl split things
<DeathStar> <Ren> But I think she might be a primary target if Noire is right about people being tied Centerpoint being hearts
<DeathStar> <Ren> I been trying to figure out who that would be in Alternate.
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "... who what would be?"
<Jackieness> <Noire> "The ehart from this reality."
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "It's one per reality?"
<DeathStar> <Ren> Could be more than one. Just that we know from Wind and others that they're after this heart of darkness in each reality
<Jackieness> <Noire> "...maybe. We don't know enough."
<DeathStar> <Ren> And it might be an item, person, place...
<DeathStar> <Taiga> And the Tareh group believes it's solely in Tareh. *she pauses as they arrive at their destination*
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "... I don't think it is."
<DeathStar> *The Arcana are peering up a lightly guarded secret passage*
<DeathStar> <Haru> .. I should make the charge while you all back me up
<DeathStar> *She holds her wound*
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmm... you are in no condition to charge anything."
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "...right. No self-sacrificing..."
<DeathStar> <Unmei> T-They're right!
<DeathStar> *The small Arcana lifts her hands. It's like a small Cheryl chiding you*
<DeathStar> *Haru backs down and leans on the wall*
<DeathStar> <Ren> I-Is that just a Cheryl thing? To self-sacrifice?
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "I... don't want to talk about it."
<DeathStar> *Ren looks innocent, since it's in her genes*
<DeathStar> <Gemi> Alright, I'll lead it. Who's with me?
<DeathStar> (er not Gemi)
<DeathStar> *Unmei
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Strikers, shall we?"
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "...yeah."
<DeathStar> *Taiga and Ren nod as Unmei leaps out and uses a spider-web like weapon to tangle the Illium*
<DeathStar> *then dives into the corner*
<Alicia> * Charlotte wraps Illium in dark tendrils, using them as rope to bind them
<Jackieness> <Noire> *follows Unkei out and into hidding*
<DeathStar> *The Illium struggle to free themselves as as Ren joins Charlotte in stabbing them and dives out as Taiga shoots them in the eyes8
<DeathStar> *As the one Illium drops, the other rises to hit the alarm when suddenly a death aura surrounds the team*
<DeathStar> *And another Cheryl, with blonde hair and streaks floats in and touches him*
<DeathStar> *causing the Illium to decay*
<DeathStar> *Haru and Unmei eye the new Arcana with trepidation*
<DeathStar> <Aya> .. Well. IT looks like the path inside is clear. *She speaks up*
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmm... let's finish this, then."
<DeathStar> <Unmei> This is Shi. <Shi> Handshake? *offers it*
<DeathStar> *Haru heads up the stairs with Katrina's help* <Aya> Hopefully our antics earlier drew most of the guard out
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmmmmm..." *just gives a Japanese style bow to Shi*
<DeathStar> *As they move to the lower level, the guards on patrol indeed seem light, with just about 10 of them blocking the stairs to the second floor*
<DeathStar> *setting Haru down, Katrina gets into a spot to hide with Aya while Shi and Unmei study the situation*
<DeathStar> <Shi> ... *eyes everything, ignoring her sisters, talking into her headset to someone softly*
<DeathStar> <Ren> *To Charlotte* How do you want to handle this, Char Char? *wagging her tails*
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Do we even need to fight anyone here? I'm sure we can sneak in."
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmmm... do our allies know another way in?"
<DeathStar> <Shi> Sneak. Hm. One moment
<DeathStar> *She talks to someone. A few moments later there's a boom outside that draws the guards down here and some upstairs outside, many of them saying "it's her".*
<DeathStar> *Then she begins ot sneak up the stairs*
<DeathStar> <Haru> ... ugh. *she leans against Katrina who helps her sneak up*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *shrugs and heads up the stairs too, sneak sneak*
<Alicia> * Charlotte sneaks up expertly
<DeathStar> *Unmei and Aya follow after while Ren shrugs and Taiga creeps up; on the second floor there are some Illium moving about, but it seems to be about 5 now, 2 of whom are guarding the stairs*
<DeathStar> <Ren> If we can distract those 2 we can reach the third floor
<Alicia> * Charlotte's eye glows, attempting to trap the Illium in an illusion for long enough to get past
<DeathStar> *Ren tilts her head as they begin to do weird, unspeakable things in the illusion*
<DeathStar> <Ren> *hurries by*
<DeathStar> <Taiga> ... *guides the others past*
<Alicia> * Charlotte takes up the rear
<Jackieness> <Noire> *moves by and up the stairs*
<DeathStar> *As they reach the floor where Zao is located, more guards are located* <Aya> We'll have to memorize their patterns
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Don't suppose we can cheat and shadow there?
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmm... we could possibly, yes."
<DeathStar> *Aya shows a map*
<DeathStar> <Shi> I couldk ill them
<DeathStar> <Shi> But I'd have to rest
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Save it for the boss fight."
<Jackieness> <Noire> *eyes the map*
<DeathStar> *it looks like Zao's room is 4 rooms away; the room next to them is a conference room; then the next room is some sort of office for his assistant, then there's another assistant room, then the room right next to him seems to be a room for the Arcana but who knows what it's used for now*
<DeathStar> <Taiga> The closer we can get to him, maybe Charlotte can read him
<Jackieness> <Noire> "The Arcana room is the ebst candidate, but what would be in there now?"
<DeathStar> <Katrina> Maybe an elite guard.
<Jackieness> <Noire> "If we drop into one of the assistant's rooms, can you mov quick to incapacitate the assistant before they raise the alarm?"
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "If we know who and where they are before we do, that helps a lot."
<DeathStar> *Aya marks the chairs in the room*
<DeathStar> <Aya> There
<DeathStar> <Umei> I'll help . <Haru> Same. <Shi> Poof
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Charlotte, we can work together to open the shadowport."
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Right."
<Jackieness> <Noire> *begins the shadowport tothe targeted room*
<Alicia> * Charlotte assists
<DeathStar> *The Arcana jump the seats that are marked; Ren targetting one as well with TAiga. Charlotte ends up being the lucky one, landing on an assistant, who is a regular human*
<DeathStar> <Assistant> Blimey!
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Charlotte, take them!"
<Alicia> * Charlotte ties up the assistant quickly
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Secure the room. Charlotte, its your scene now."
<DeathStar> *Shi listens to her headset* Hm...
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Good luck
<DeathStar> <Ren> Get good rolls
<Alicia> * Charlotte goes to mind-scan Zao, also wondering why Ren is thinking of bread at a time like this.
<DeathStar> *due to the long distance, Charlotte has trouble hearing everything, but what she does hear is crystal clear. Zao seems to be worrying about the Illium Overlords? And trying to protect? Protect something? And seems to be feeling guilt about something. And trying to capture Aya for some some good reason. And also has Cheryl just now due to her providing a distraction for the team.*
<Alicia> * Charlotte relays this to Ren
<DeathStar> <Ren> ... *peers at Shi* <Shi> Yeah, she's the one who brought me here
<DeathStar> <Unmei> You came with mom?!
<DeathStar> *Taiga muses* Illium Overlords?
<DeathStar> <Taiga> And trying to protect somthing?
<Alicia> * Charlotte nods, heading back to the others
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmm... what Illium Overlords?"
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "I'm wondering about that too."
<DeathStar> <Aya> I confess I'm confused too
<DeathStar> <Aya> The Illium and our people were intermingling quite well after the war until this happened
<DeathStar> <Aya> This has likely set us back
<DeathStar> <Katrina> But where has all this Illium tech popped up. Aya has been intregrating the Illium tech with our own for ages now. Some of this is just plain Illium tech
<Jackieness> <Noire> "It suggests an external influence was involved."
<DeathStar> *Katrina nods*
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Perhaps a reality where the illium invasion was sucessful."
<DeathStar> <Haru> *Who was nodding off, focuses on the conversation* That doesn't sound well. So why did Zao join them? Just to rule?
<DeathStar> <Unmei> And what will they do with Mother Cheryl?
<DeathStar> <Aya> Yes, we'll have to try to take her back when we stop him
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Perhaps it was udner duress... and he acts out of desperation."
<DeathStar> *she pulls out explosives*
<DeathStar> <Ren> You think we should try to talk to him?
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "We might be able to deal with things without making anything explode."
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Charlotte did not get a complete picture..."
<DeathStar> <Taiga> Hm, you're team lead
<DeathStar> <Taiga> How do you want to try to approach it?
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "I feel like Zao doesn't want to do this... but protecting... whoever or whatever it is, is too important."
<DeathStar> <Shi> I do not mind going in and touching people.
<Jackieness> <Noire> "We go in and confront him then. If we are forced to battle, then so be it. If we are able to talk him down, all the better."
<DeathStar> *Taiga focuses and opens a foxhole
<DeathStar> *Then leaps in*
<DeathStar> *Ren follows and the Arcana lead Aya and Katrina after*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *moves through*
<Alicia> * Charlotte moves with the group
<DeathStar> *Zao is facing a Cheryl with super long blonde hair, even longer than Taiga and Ren's, who is bound by some Illium tech behind her back. A large Illium is standing there, keeping his eye on both Zao and Cheryl*
<DeathStar> <Zao> I---
<DeathStar> *his reddish hair like Ao, but Illium features makes him stand out*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *takes the time to get into a cool pose before announcing their presence*
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Hello there."
<DeathStar> *The large Illium moves to attack them. Zao pulls Cheryl toward them, or out of the way of the Illium*
<DeathStar> *him*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *forms her Dark Edge and leaps form her cool pose into a cool flying slash*
<DeathStar> <Cheryl> Becareful
<DeathStar> *the Illium grabs her arm*
<Alicia> * Charlotte strikes at the Illium's arm
<DeathStar> *Ren leap stabs as the Illium makes a noise, grabbing Ren' throat and begins to crush*
<Jackieness> <Noire> *dispels the dark Edge in her main hand, reforms it in her left and stabs while at arms length*
<DeathStar> *Haru leaps and stabs while Unmei does her webs*
<DeathStar> *the Illium stumbles back, working on healing*
<Alicia> * Charlotte goes for the Illium's eyes now, angry at the throat-grab
<DeathStar> *it makes a roar and falls over*
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmmm... is it down down?"
<DeathStar> *it suddenly rises, the eyes looking bloody and it dives out the window*
<DeathStar> *Shi leans out to look*
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "... well, it's gone."
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmm... how annoying."
<DeathStar> *Zao pushes Cheryl to them*
<DeathStar> *Shi melts the bindings with her touch*
<DeathStar> *Unmei hangs on Cheryl, who pets her head while she then checks Haru's wound
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Now then... would you explain what this mess is all about now that your 'friend' is gone?"
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "I'm wondering that too."
<DeathStar> *Zao rubs his face*
<DeathStar> <Zao> I... *he feels the hatred from the Arcana and others* Fine. The Illium returned some time ago and told me that unless I took over as the Emperor's son, they would destroy the Earth
<DeathStar> <Zao> So I played my part and did so with some of their troops.
<DeathStar> <Zao> The people, especially the Illium population soon began to fall in line but then a resistance began to rise so they left advisors at all hours to exterminate them and keep an eye on me. There's more than one, and stronger than him, roaming about the place
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Where did they come from?"
<DeathStar> <Zao> I ran into them on one of my trips in space.
<DeathStar> <Zao> Thinking on it, they probably sought me out or were waiting on me
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Well, what of these hearts?"
<DeathStar> <Zao> Hearts. I think they might have mentioned them before.
<Alicia> * Charlotte concentrates on making sure Zao isn't lying about anything, but otherwise just listens
<DeathStar> <Zao> They had a list of people that they wanted me to detain if I ever ran into them
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Who?"
<DeathStar> <Zao> Lets see. *he pulls out a list. It seems to have Wind's name, Jamie's name, Cheryl is on there, Taiga is on there* They said these were just people they wanted to question and that there might be more added in time
<Alicia> * Charlotte looks over the list
<DeathStar> <Cheryl> *leans over* Problem is there's so many versions of people out there
<DeathStar> <Cheryl> How can you tell who you want?
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmm-hmmmm... Cheryl alone has many incanrations."
<DeathStar> <Ren> I wondr where your counter part is
<Jackieness> <Noire> "...good question." *looks at the Arcana*
<DeathStar> <Haru> Last we heard before our operation
<DeathStar> <Haru> She was following some lead - maybe it had to do with this Illium leaders
<DeathStar> <Zao> I think they planned to move some of their operations to Earth soon
<DeathStar> <Zao> I'll see if, once MAdame Aya gets control, if we can't find it
<Jackieness> <Noire> "...thank you..."
<DeathStar> <Aya> .... I suppose Zao did what he did for us
<DeathStar> <Cheryl> You should go easy on the boy.
<Alicia> <Charlotte> "Of course."
<Jackieness> <Noire> "Though watch out forany surprises left behind by these Illium Overlords."
