<DeathStar> *The team from Geyze used the Suisen resources to go to the Maka Homeworld while a few others stayed behind to keep order so they could go through the Maka history and try to learn more about the past and Makai in general to try to find anything they could; Sabrina and Selena have tons of Manga laying about them the past few days, trying eyeing the pictures and stories*
<DeathStar> <Selena> ... I am still asking myself these past few days how this is history
<DeathStar> *Sabrina is trying to becareful with the older manga that has to do with the Makai, making sure not to damage them*
<Jackieness> <Lana> *is reclining with some manga and some soda* "You just need to get yourself in the right mindset. IThink of it as a pictorial history."
<DeathStar> *Erevis is sitting off to the side, recreating some of the drawings*
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Beside,s I read this type of stuff all the time when I was younger."
<MobileAri> <Nicolette> "History doesn't need to be boring I guess?"
<Xanatos> <Simon> Ancient civilizations would keep records like this on the sides of caves, it's an interesting culture that maintains the art despite the creation of language and written word.
<Seraphna> Truth> This one chronicles the battles with an evil demon.

<Xanatos> <Xan> ...I think I'd rather just go to a picture show.

<DeathStar> <Selena> It feels like these makai have been showing up in some of the oldest Maka manga. And it's always the same thing
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Maybe ou should go ttalk to the locals, Xanatos. You're clearly not a reader."
<Xanatos> <Xan> Oh I like the little lace stuff. 6* He says as he leans over to look at Erevis' drawing.
<DeathStar> *She holds up her fingers* The Maka accepts despair or darkness into her heart. Then her power grows massively - the same amount as the darkness in her heart
<DeathStar> <Selena> So the greater the darkness, the more powerful the Makai.
<Xanatos> <Xan> How do Maka grow more powerful?
<DeathStar> <Selena> And once they fall into this state, there's no way to bring them back, even if the power is reduced
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> Love and hope!
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> So I'm told
<DeathStar> <Selena> *holds up a second finger* Also, the poisonous aura of the darkness in their heart is painful to them. A literal physical pain.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ahhhh... what if the power were to be completely removed?"
<DeathStar> <Selena> The pain is what drives them insane according to the manga
<Jackieness> <Lana> "...wait...should we get the hooked on morphine then...?"
<DeathStar> <Selena> And gets rid of their empathy and guilt.
<DeathStar> <Erevis> I never noticed Zayne in pain, but she definitely lacks empathy.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Well, not entirely... she certainly feels something for her daughter."
<DeathStar> <Selena> Three, A Makai - a single ONE - can control Daimons. A powerful one can control or make them
<DeathStar> <Selena> As well as even make people her thralls.
<DeathStar> <Erevis> I suppose that is true. Her emotions are severely muted
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Sunny seems to be an exception
<Xanatos> <Simon> Hm, trauma of a society betraying one after they've been deemed 'evil' in some way could lead to abandonment of empathy.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Though some of this suggests that many went full sociopath before they were even detected."
<DeathStar> *Selena eyes the manga* I wish we could find some document of who the FIRST Makai was
<DeathStar> <Selena> There had to be a first Maka and a first Makai
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Hmmmmm... put all the volumes in order."
<DeathStar> *Erevis leans forward* I found something interesting in the history art books. *She notes while Selena begins to try to put the massive amount of books in order*
<MobileAri> <Nicolette> "Yeah, all of the ones I've gotten have been well into things."
<Jackieness> <Lana> *helps with the sorting*
<DeathStar> <Erevis> There seems to be twisted familiars of the Magical Girls. I am assuming that when a Makai occurs, they abandon the magical girl based on the books
<DeathStar> <Erevis> These are called Matsukai and attempt to make the girls turn into Makai
<Jackieness> <Lana> "So maybe find out what causes the famiulairs to turn first."
<Xanatos> 6* Simon moves to help Selena put them in order.
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> Well, I know that Zayne has her's. I've seen her talk to nothing
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> Wouldn't that make her's a Matsukai?
<Xanatos> <Xan> Have these bad familiar been corrupting the girls this whole time?
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Talk to nothing? Are you sure she is actually talkignt o soemthign except her imagination?"
<DeathStar> <Erevis> I imagine the ones who still have them probably were corrupted by them
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> No, I am positive she has her's.
<Xanatos> <Simon> Discovery of the first Matsukai would be more important than the first Makai, I suppose. Though both are quite important.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Well, once we have this history sorted by volume, I think we cna find what is missing."
<DeathStar> *As they finish - the volumes seem to begin around Volume 11ish*
<DeathStar> <Selena> ... Wait. Wait
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Just as I expected. The first ten volumes are missing. We need to find them!"
<DeathStar> <Selena> Uh, how? They're not in here
<Xanatos> <Xan> Think they're in some secret section?
<DeathStar> *She glances around the library*
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Is this going to be some sort of thing where the first ten volumes are collector's items
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Given the tropes invovled, probably."
<Xanatos> <Simon> Collector's items? So someone else has them?
<DeathStar> <Selena> Are we talking about when a noble has something?
<DeathStar> *She looks at Nicolette*
<Jackieness> <Lana> "They probably have them hidden somewhere on this world...assuming they weren't stolen."
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> We can go out and try to see if you wish
<Jackieness> <Lana> "But how to find ten volumes scattered over an entire world..."
<DeathStar> <Erevis> While you all chck on that, let me see if I can learn what is going on abck home
<Xanatos> <Xan> Is there a senior Maka or historian or something that could help?

<DeathStar> <Sabrina> *Thinks a moment* Lets go back to my house a moment and let me see if I can look up some stuff

<Xanatos> 6* Simon pauses and moves to place the manga back properly before following. Xan on the otherhand just leaves to follow Sabrina

<DeathStar> *as they leave, the strange animeish world goes on around them, with school girls running late with toast in their mouth, love romance going on right out of anime, the makas helping battle the Daimons while saving cats from trees*

<Xanatos> <Xan> Wait, really? I thought you were way younger than that. So I have a genuine question for the maka. After you get a certain age your power stops or fades away? Then you just become a normal adult living in this society?
<DeathStar> <Selena> Mmmhm. *She glances at Nicolette, who looks a bit older than her*
<MobileAri> <Nicolette> "So I hear." She's spent very little time around other Maka.
<Xanatos> <Xan> So you have a home because of your alliance work on geyze or because the maka are paid for their efforts?
<Alicia> * Sparkling just looks away sadly at that
<MobileAri> <Nicolette> "Or because all high schoolers have a home."
<Xanatos> <Xan> ...huh?
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Why would you not have a home?"
<DeathStar> <Selena> Well, some of us do work here aftr we lose our powers, others continue to work for the planet we swore to protect. And once in a small, small chance some of us do not lose our power. I have heard of it happening. And I imagine that hope also has driven a few to fall into despair when it does not happen
<DeathStar> <Selena> Nicolette knows she has a place with me at the castle
<DeathStar> *Sabrina for the first jeeze
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "At least you can't end up a Makai from that, right?"
<Seraphna> Thena> Is there a Manga about you?
<DeathStar> *Sabrina glances at Sparkling, who probably tuned out the talk* ... if you fall into despair, you'll become a Makai as long as you still have a bit of power left
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> And no longer being a Maka is one of the worst despairs for some
<Jackieness> <Lana> "I wonder if I could study a Makai's power if we can manage to capture one..."
<MobileAri> <Nicolette> "Yeah... chances of THAT happening are slim. If you want a future, you've gotta be proactive about it."
<DeathStar> *she points at her computer* I think I might know some Book Collectors. *She writes the addresses down*

<DeathStar> *Erevis returns, looking concerned as she joins Xanatos*

<Xanatos> 6* Xan frowns and rubs his neck at the whisper and just seems mesmerized by the bus.

<DeathStar> *the bus drops them off at a normal neighborhood and Sabrina leads them along toward a typical Japanese house* <Selena> This is the collector's house? Well, one of them

<Jackieness> <Lana> "They have every trope in shojo manga happenign here."
<DeathStar> *Sabrina leads them up toward the house, where a camera watches them*
<MobileAri> <Nicolette> "Maybe they should sell bingo cards on tropes, hmm..."

<DeathStar> *after a moment, the door opens a crack, a round face peering at them* What do you want? *a male voice asks*
<Xanatos> <Simon> Are you one who collects?

<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ahhh... I am Lana, a sage. We're looking to study a ook... ummm... Maka history manga volumne 1 though 10."

<DeathStar> *Selena turns toward the chibi Thena resting on Lana*

<Jackieness> <Lana> "...ahhh?"

<DeathStar> *he appears to be a large man of some weight, but surprisingly carries it well with some muscle, too. He begins to lead them through a house full of posters and anime figures, games and other items*

<DeathStar> *appearing to be in his 30's to 40's, he leads them to a room, where images caught of a Magical Boy who almost looks like him can be seen on the wall as he sits down, pointing at a wall full of manga, much like from the library, adding the Nicolette to the collection*

<Xanatos> <Xan> Maybe. I wonder how well it would do.
<Xanatos> 6* Simon nods to the man and moves over to glance over them.

<DeathStar> *he seems to have books 5-10, with 1 - 5 having notes and sketches*
<Jackieness> <Lana> "...do you know why the offcial archives are missing their copies, sir?"
<DeathStar> *Sabrina eyes the pictures with Nicolette, turning to eye the man, then back; Selena walks up* <Selena> That normal?
<DeathStar> <Man> Oh, that's because there's only a few existing copies left. They go for like a ton of money. The first few don't even exist anymore.
<Xanatos> <Simon> At all? They were destroyed or lost in some way?
<Seraphna> Thena> Shoujd keep digital archives to save content!
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Weird..."
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "That's tragic..."

<Xanatos> <Simon> Could we look at the 5 through 10 that you do have if we are delicate about them? Or perhaps to save your precious item you could answer questions we have? Our intentions is to learn who became the first Makai and was it also through a matsukai as well?
<Jackieness> <Lana> "I suppose we would need Volumes 1 through 5 to get the full history though."

<DeathStar> *The man gestures, taking Volume 5, showing two twins, one a Maka and the other a Makai, with a couple of Maka and Makai on each side; the two twins seem intent on stopping each other, as the Makai twin's insanity seems to be growing and her despair seems to be growing and the influence affecting Maka and Makai each* <Man> So it is guessed mind you that the first two Maka were these twins
<DeathStar> <Man> And then more Maka were you know, appearing with their soul seeds.
<DeathStar> <Selena> Soul Seeds? That's the Maka's familiars. The Tsukai.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Ah, ok."
<Alicia> <Jikuu> "I feel like this is an important point."
<DeathStar> <Man> Right. It's believed the twins were the first two have their soul seeds appear. And them more Maka appeared. But the one twin, something happened and she became a Makai.
<DeathStar> <Man> And others changed with her when she did and the Maka/Makai began to battle each other even to this day. They say then she did, her despair was so great, it was like despair brought Maka and Makai to their knees.
<DeathStar> <Man> But she was defeated and after that Makai were hunted. Ths is like old stories though
<Xanatos> <Simon> Despair over....what, I wonder?
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> If they were the first I cannot think of much
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Sooo... would you happen to know who might have the complete first five volumes?"

<DeathStar> <Selena> Ah? *she blinks*
<Xanatos> <Xan> I'm not sure I get the point either.
<DeathStar> <Selena> I might be reaching then. Nevermind.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Well, what if the creature was what corrupted her first?"
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "I could see that."
<DeathStar> <Selena> That is what I thinking since Matsukais are said to do that.
<DeathStar> <Selena> A normal Tsukai would leave a fallen Maka who turns into a Makai.
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Was the Matsukai always a Matsukai?"
<Jackieness> <Lana> "...soooo...what corrupted the familiar first?"
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> From what I've always been told, they're born that way.
<Xanatos> <Simon> Ah, I see what you mean. The familiar stayed so it was either corrupted by her turn, or it caused it.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Born that way? Then why let the familiar bond with the Maka to begin with?"
<Alicia> <Jikuu> "Perhaps they do not know?"
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> I--- I'm not sure. I mean it comes from the Maka herself. Her soul seed.
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> It's not like we know.
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> And the Matsukai tries to lead the Magical Girl astray.
<Jackieness> <Lana> "...so perhpas her fall was inevitable... that its no more a choice than breathing is."
<DeathStar> <Selena> I wonder if there were any cases if a Magical Girl ignoring a Matsukai
<DeathStar> <Selena> Surely there are
<Jackieness> <Lana> "I need more datapoints!"
<DeathStar> <Erevis> So from what I am gathering
<DeathStar> <Erevis> A long time ago on the planet, two twins were born, one had a normal familiar, one had a twisted one - then as more were born, one twin fell into being a Makai and her fall began to affect everyone around her with some sort of ... despair cry that affected Maka and Makai alike
<DeathStar> <Erevis> This feels somewhat familiar
<Jackieness> <Lana> "Familiar relative to...?"
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Maka and Makai having dreams every night
<DeathStar> <Sabrina> The thing is coming closer to Geyze; even here the dreams happen
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "So, if we beat that, the Makai will... stop being evil?"
<Jackieness> <Lana> "So maybe the thing is either the first Makai or her familiar?"
<DeathStar> <Erevis> I doubt it. But whatever it is,we do not want the Makai to make contact I believe
<Xanatos> <Xan> But also lose their powers? I think?
<DeathStar> <Selena> The is a scary thought. The first or her familiar
<DeathStar> *the man meanwhile has Thena put in a glass jar to protect from dust*
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Lana. Do you plan to remain here to gather more data? I have to tell the others something important
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Maybe it's whatever corrupted the first Maka?"
<Jackieness> <Lana> "I need more data points."
<DeathStar> *She nods* <Erevis> I will have Ao, Leyaeh and Drasek remain to help you then
<DeathStar> *She turns to look at the Maka, specifically Nicolette*
<Jackieness> <Lana> "And maybe, maybe w emight find out more about the missing first volumes."
<DeathStar> <Erevis> I have bad news; we should return to Geyze now if you wish to do something. We are running low on time right now
<DeathStar> <Selena> Hm? What is up?
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "I guess I'd better go then."
<Jackieness> <Lana> "I'll let you know if we find anything."
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Over the last 3 days, the Maka on Geyze have grown fed up with the Alliance and the Suisen and plan to bring Zayne here to execute her. They will be moving her soon
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Where they have authority
<MobileAri> <Nicolette> "That... how could they even consider that?"
<DeathStar> <Erevis> Because to them, she is the ultimate enemy
<Jackieness> <Lana> A"hhhh... they cna't legally extradite a prisoner from Allaince jurisdiction without judicial review... or something..."
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "Zayne isn't much of an ultimate enemy... surely it's the thing coming to Geyze?"
<MobileAri> <Nicolette> "Someone needs to shove some fricken rainbows..." *muttermutter*

<DeathStar> *she leads the group toward the Suisen teleporters*

<Xanatos> <Simon> Good luck, Lana. 6* He turns and follows. Xan meanwhile makes sure to retrieve the Thena before leaving.

<DeathStar> *The team arrives back at the Academy, where the barrier has been put up due to the Makai lurking outside of it to try to sneak attack the school with their Daimons. The Maka seem to be on alert, looking tired, for the attacks as Selena takes in the air*
<DeathStar> *Lumi hurries over to them* Welcome back.
<Xanatos> <Simon> I see you've raised the barrier. It's only gotten worse here?
<DeathStar> <Lumi> The Makai are viciously persistant
<DeathStar> <Lumi> And the magical girls - even with their sugary personalities - are getting a little snappy with the dreams and portents
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Do you know why they are comign for my Academy?"
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "And the other Maka are really willing to ignore it just to deal with Zayne?"
<DeathStar> *she walks with the group toward where Sasha is set up, surrounded by the older Maka and Zayne*
<DeathStar> <Maka 1> We have dozens of us on alert right now. *She eyes Sparkling*
<DeathStar> <Maka 2> Do you want to join them on patrol?
<DeathStar> *Zayne seems to have magical bindings to keep her from doing anything, kneeling on the grass*
<Jackieness> <Sasha> rubs the bridge of her nose* "Ah, there you are. Please tell me you have good enws for me."
<Alicia> <Sparkling> "I'll be over soon."
<MobileAri> <Nicolette> "What's this about executions? That's... how can that be an option?"
<DeathStar> *The two Maka turn to Nicolette, as if bewildered* The only reason we held off this long as because you scared two of the younger girls. She is a Makai. Do you know what they do? *She gestures outside where Daimons try to get into the school* They are the cause of this right now
<DeathStar> <Maka 2> They would attack all inside and kill you if they could
<Alicia> <Jikuu> "And you think executing her will stop everything."
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Again, why are they attacking my shcool?!"
<DeathStar> <Maka 1> Nonsense. But it will be one less Makai. We will return with more to try and stop the bad guys
<DeathStar> *She tells Sasha* They're here because they're drawn to this school
<Xanatos> <Simon> But this makai is a mother, is she not? You would orphan a child because of this?
<MobileAri> <Nicolette> "And you call yourselves guardians of love and justice?"
<Jackieness> <Sasha> "Why are they drawn here?"
<Alicia> <Jikuu> "Yes. Why?"
<DeathStar> <Maka 2> .... *the Maka glance at Zayne* They likely sense one of their own here

<Alicia> <Sparkling> "That never happened before!"
<Xanatos> <Xan> So if we brought this Zayne to...Maka then they'll attack there instead?
<Xanatos> <Xan> And if they don't? What then?
