01[19:42] <DS> *Ren looks over the envelope - it seems to be addressed to the Fumoffu club, with the sender being somewhere from Earth, the location being an address in Tokyo*

[19:44] <Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmmmm..." *holds out her hand* "...allow me."
[19:44] <@Seraphna> **Kaelan slides out of Noire’s shadow**
01[19:44] <DS> <Ren> A-A-ah, okay. *She hands it over to Noire*
[19:45] <Jackieness> <Noire> "Ren, pull out your tablet in case we need to notes or research." *examines the envelope, rubbing it between her fingertips*
01[19:47] <DS> *Ren gathers out her datapad and prepares it, recording Noire; the envelope seems normal enough, with a thin piece of paper inside it; one can almost see it through the light*
[19:47] <Jackieness> <Noire> *forms a slender dark blade and uses it to open the envelope like a civilized person before pulling out the enclosed slip of paper*
[19:49] <Jackieness> <Noire> *then reads the letter itelf*
01[19:53] <DS> Letter: I wish to greet you properly, members of the Fumoffu. You are well known in many circles, those that can acknowledge you and fear you. You have many admirers. And many enemies, one of who has awakened me. All who are in this room are currently curesed - you should attend to your affairs while you can. - A

[19:56] <Jackieness> <Noire> *holds out the letter* "Scan the material components of this letter. Paper, ink, etc. Next we are going to Tokyo."

01[19:57] <DS> *Ren scans it* All of this appears to be material used by someone from ancient times. It's even written in japanese. *she notes, glancing at the Japanese writing* But in the ink and paper is the curse

01[20:02] <DS> *Taiga sits there thinking on the couch; Ren and Kaelan reach Ren's supply locker where she begins to unlock it and the two see --- all of Ren's ghost stuff either rotting or broken somehow. Even the salt seems to have gone bad* <Ren> H-How? *she eyes maggots and fruit flies flying out of the locker*

01[20:24] <DS> *it seems the bus' tire blew and it's come up off the street right toward the building entrance(
[20:24] <Jackieness> <Noire> *raises a hand and uses conjured tendrils to try to stop the bus before its too late*

01[20:25] <DS> *it is stopped. but there is no sign of Ren*

01[20:26] <DS> *a tiny wolf fox crawls out from underneath*

01[20:28] <DS> *as the group walks the streets, nothing happens to them, except all of them would feel oddities - headaches forming,, Si would feel a pain behind her eye, Noire would feel like her lower stomach is on fire*
01[20:29] <DS> *Ren seems to be out of breath and holding herself oddly and Taiga is even gritting her teeth as they reach the shrine*
[20:29] <@Seraphna> Si> Owww, sinus headache?
[20:30] <Jackieness> <Noire> "...ugggh..." *shakes her head and then heads to purchase the proteection charms*
01[20:31] <DS> <Ren> My head and my leg feels like it's going to break off
01[20:31] <DS> <Taiga> I feel like there's my heart is beating too hard
[20:32] <@Seraphna> Kaelan> Maladies… **she checks the curse again**
01[20:32] <DS> *it seems like the bad luck has grown to bad luck to affect their health*

[20:33] <Jackieness> <Noire> *returns with the charms, mumbling a Shinto prayer under her breath*
01[20:34] <DS> *a creepy shadow passes behind Noire and over the shrine steps, but the prayer seems to make it more sunny*

01[20:35] <DS> *Taiga keeps her's close, Ren takes her's and looks around; the ailments seem to ease for the moment*

01[20:40] <DS> *Ren nods and begins to hurry down the streets, the direct slowly leading them more toward the west where there are more mountains*
01[20:42] <DS> *Taiga and Ren slowly begin to look tired as they begin to head deeper up; at this point in time, though, they would find civilization unlike many years ago, as it keeps growing. Eventually, Ren stops at the address and they're standing at what looks to be a new type mall*
01[20:42] <DS> <Ren> Food ghost?
[20:43] <Jackieness> <Noire> "...this is not what I imagined."
01[20:43] <DS> <Taiga> Hm. Something tells me there is more to this story

01[20:44] <DS> *Taiga grabs her datapad and begins to do something; meanwhile the mall looks like it's still quite active, and rather new*

01[20:49] <DS> <Taiga> The development in this part of the city has been growing and growing up into the mountains and there was some controversy but it sounds like they built over a shrine here that was basically .. in ruins

01[20:55] <DS> <Ren> Maybe--- *she eyes a gust of wind begin a domino effect of signs begin to slam into each other and slowly begin to knock their way toward the team*
[20:55] <Jackieness> <Noire> *tries forming a dark barrier around the team*
01[20:57] <DS> *Noire would get it up right as it slams down; for a second it feels like it might fail but it holds*
[20:57] <Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmmmmm...the spirits here being angry makes sense...but why come after us?"
[20:58] <@Seraphna> Kaelan> Someone set them on is according to the letter.
01[20:58] <DS> <Ren> Maybe we can learn more about this A and how she's tied to the shrine
[20:59] <Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmmmm...Taiga, do a history search concenrign this area."
01[21:01] <DS> *Taiga begins to expand the search and soon begins to speak, sounding out of breath again*
[21:01] <Jackieness> <Noire> "...the curse is starting to strengthen."
[21:02] <@Seraphna> **Kaelan muses and starts making new moonlight charms**
[21:04] <Jackieness> <Noire> *moves to examine the broken seal on the stone*
01[21:04] <DS> <Taiga> According to records, the shrine was struggling. I'm not sure if this was stepping out of their reach but they were helping the local poor kids and women, and it was taxing what resources they had. A nortorious shrine maiden known as Aika began to relocate funds from the gangsters in the city - it looks like it caught up to them. All I can find is it led to the shrine ending up in it's state before the city - turned it into a mall

[21:06] <Jackieness> <Noire> "So who has forced Aika to target us?"
01[21:06] <DS> *it seems to be a seal to put one to sleep/no longer seek vengance*
01[21:06] <DS> <Ren> I don't suppose there's a way to ask people? Or you know, the other side
[21:07] <Jackieness> <Noire> "...a seance, Ren?" *looks back* "...this was seal for a vengeful spirit."

01[21:16] <DS> *peering inside, it looks to be quiet and no one is around. A lot of the machines seem to be broken down too*
[21:16] <Jackieness> <Noire> *looks at the place and then tries to feel out the vibe of the place*
01[21:19] <DS> *it feels almost like a low grade curse is set upon the place; Ren makes a face and heads next door which is a grocery store, heading inside*
[21:20] <Jackieness> <Noire> "...this place is a focal point of the curse...Taiga... can you triangulate what was speciiclaly on this site?"
01[21:21] <DS> <Ren> The food here seems to go rotten fast
01[21:21] <DS> *She steps back out*
01[21:21] <DS> <Taiga> Let me see.
01[21:23] <DS> *Taiga uses her datapad to overlay the outside mall with the shrine and lays it over each other and projects it. The shrine steps seem to have been the road leading up to the shrine, the shrine entrance was the mall entrance; and then the shrine grounds is where the buildings are now*

01[21:24] <DS> *she seems to have been working her way around the mall*

01[21:24] <DS> <Ren> The food here smells and looks great!

01[21:28] <DS> <Taiga> What else would you like to know, comparing the two maps?
[21:29] <Jackieness> <Noire> "Taiga, find out what exactly happened to force the shrien to close...and where on site it happened."

According to the historic information, what forced it to close was ... *she brings up the report, which looks to be heavily edited down* A shine maiden got into it with local gangmembers over a timeline of half a year, it caught up to her and they went to the shrine to make trouble. Several people were reported dead, included the shrine maiden, and damage was done to the shrine and it was closed
[21:33] <Jackieness> <Noire> "Presumably the shrine maiden has come back as a vengeful spirit. My point is thatt he site of her death is likely the focal point of the curse."

01[21:38] <DS> *Ren follows along as they arrive at what looks to be a closed bookstore*

01[21:41] <DS> *after a second a click is heard and Ren rises* Sorry, had to fight the mini game. *she pushes the door open*I

01[21:42] <DS> *the lights are off, but at first glance the books all look to be fine. The interior looks great. There are no smells; but there is this strange feeling of wrongness. Their charms seem to speed up decaying inside*
01[21:42] <DS> *Ren looks around while Taiga moves to a shelf on history and picks up a book, flipping through it*
[21:43] <Jackieness> <Noire> "Mmmmm...here...its definitely here..."
01[21:43] <DS> <Ren> But we still are going in blind
01[21:43] <DS> <Ren> Not a great footing between us and it
[21:44] <@Seraphna> **Kaelan tries a bit of foxfire in her hand**
01[21:45] <DS> *it appears, but Kaelan's body shakes as if somethnig in her is ill*
[21:45] <Jackieness> <Noire> *grabs the hem of her skirt and pulls, performing her clothing swap to her shrine maiden outfit*

01[21:47] <DS> *she sets down a drawing of the shrine in ruins - drawn by a kid with their name signed.* <Taiga> I wonder if this was one of the children the shrine maiden took in

01[21:48] <DS> <Taiga> If so, they got out it appears if they drew the ruins. Let me run their name through the datapad
01[21:48] <DS> *as Taiga is working, the large bookcase begins to shake a bit, then tilts toward Taiga*
[21:49] <Jackieness> <Noire> *starts to recite a Shinto chant to ward off evil*
01[21:50] <DS> *Noire also would feel a pain in her gallbladder area but it seems to work. The bookcase stops*
01[21:51] <DS> <Taiga> Alright, the girl went on to marry and had a large family, but died of natural causes. But, some of the family still lives in this area, including one working at this mall and one living in a house a few blocks away

[21:52] <Jackieness> <Noire> "...where in this mall?"
01[21:53] <DS> <Taiga> Lets see - place next door serving food.

[21:55] <Jackieness> <Noire> "...that seems a trifle suspicious, does it not? They are at only non-cursed place in the mall?"

01[21:55] <DS> <Ren> Well, lets just stay here and try to summon the spirit
01[21:56] <DS> <Ren> She's already trying to drop book cases on us

01[22:02] <DS> *she motions she can't get in as the bookcases begin to get thrown at them; Taiga trying to stop them with her arm*
01[22:05] <DS> *a figure begins to appear; a shrinemaiden. They walk slowly toward Noire holding what looks to be an old katana*
01[22:05] <DS> <Ren> She looks very see-through
[22:05] <@Seraphna> **Kaelan muses and pulls out Truth, forming a Holy Circle around them and sending a tendril at the window**

[22:06] <Jackieness> <Noire> *tries to stay focused on the chant*
01[22:06] <DS> *Kaelan's ass hurts now*
01[22:07] <DS> *the shrine maiden lifts her arm and dashes in, right for Noire'e chest, sword out* <Ren> We have to abort. *she gets ready to yank Noire and the whole circle if need be*

[22:08] <Jackieness> <Noire> *doesn't move as she remains entirely focused on the summoning ritual*
01[22:10] <DS> *Truth parries, but afterward even she would feel like her luck has been affected just upon contact. Soon the shrine maiden appears to be no longer see-through - she has lond black hair, wearing a traditional looking shrine maiden outfit; her face though looks somewhat ill if you didn;t know she was a ghost*
[22:11] <Jackieness> <Noire> *opens her eyes as the chant ends, looking at the shrine maiden*

[22:23] <Jackieness> <Noire> *lets out a breath and goes to pursue the spirit*
01[22:26] <DS> *the group that headed out would find themselves in the back with the trash and back doors; the resturant's door is fine and there's even still a good aura back here; the building to the other side of the bookstore's door has been busted in and there's a commotion of men yelling and a shot is fired*

[22:28] <Jackieness> <Noire> "Come on!" *heads through the busted door*
01[22:29] <DS> *As they enter, they would find Ren on the ground looking ill; a hand print on her wrist where she was grabbed. Also inside is a bunch of yakuza like gangsters swinging swords and firing guns at the shrine maiden trying to kill her as she makes a mess of them and the back rooms where stolen goods are being moved through. Taiga kneels by Ren, trying to figure out how this connects to anything*

01[22:31] <DS> <Taiga> No wonder some of these places were rotting
[22:31] <Jackieness> <Noire> "...it still does not explain why we were cursed."
01[22:32] <DS> *Taiga pulls Ren outside as the yakuza are slowly finished and Aida turns toward them, perhaps catching Noire's comment. Her lips move and a terrible siren like noise emits*

01[22:40] <DS> *the letter reads: You have angered many spirits, especially the one named Ren, for your actions over the years. By removing their family, relatives, themselves. A few are displeased even by the actions of taking from them or eating their food. They wish me to make you spirits now and will make sure to see after the children*
01[22:40] <DS> *Aida shifts into her stance, as if that settles that*
01[22:40] <DS> <Ren> Are we being punished for putting away evil spirits?
[22:42] <Jackieness> <Noire> "...Ren...what did you do?"
[22:43] <@Seraphna> Kaelan> Their anger is not magically justified because they have been punished as Kami.
01[22:43] <DS> <Ren> I did everything with you guys; everything I did, you did. .... now that food thing, honestly I have no idea what they're talking about
01[22:43] <DS> *the spirit draws the item in question*

[22:43] <Jackieness> <Noire> *looks at the drawing then at Ren*

[22:46] <Jackieness> <Noire> "Then make the offer, Taiga... besides, it looks like most of her children are already adults."
01[22:47] <DS> *Taiga motions* I will take care of the families of the children that survived. The ghosts that hired you are not all good.
01[22:48] <DS> *Aida studies them then seems to awhile, then indicates she will not openly attack them, but that their bad luck curse will not easily break, before moving off*

01[23:00] <DS> <Taiga> Some of the cops were o nthe payroll of the Yakuza and tried to bury it. And then turned a blind eye when they helped pay for the reconstruction and allowed themselves to rent out some of the space

[23:03] <Jackieness> <Noire> "It might help...the next part won't be fun. We are goign to the purification spring to stand udner a cold waterfall."

[23:05] <Jackieness> <Noire> "...and also we are going to fast over night." *looks at Ren meaningfully*
