Session 129: Lineage
Location: Tareh
Over the next few days, the team travels across the land to discover what what has been causing the divide between the Kingdoms who continue to use Magic and the Kingdoms who use Technology, focusing their attention on the Island Kingdoms - once the Kingdom of Ama'Dori. As they arrive at a massive technological city that has been built with PAX technology, which was last seen when Erevis and Ama took their group off into space. The city is lightyears ahead of anything seen in Neer, with the city being almost on par with the Suisen structures and capabilities due to how much they've achieved, plus it seems as if they've tapped into the leylines as well for certain power centers since they do not have access to Progenitors.
It seems to become obvious that there is a huge power gap between those still practicing magic and those using the PAX technology as they seek out the leadership of the Island Nations and soon discover the leader is a handsome male Kitsune who looks a lot like Kaelan. At first it is dismissed as being connected to her due to the fact it is a male, but it soon is revealed he is her grandson from one of her many children, due to Tareh's advanced time mechanics in play. The Kitsune leader - Takashi - seems highly charismatic and his people adore him, but the team also are aware he is extremely powerful, having inherited Kaelan's Dark Kitsune powers in all the ways she's ever wished for in her family tree, meaning a straight battle with him would be extremely risky, plus it becomes obvious his people are willing to lay down their lives for him.
Speaking with him, they see his goal is to convert all of Tareh under one nation - his - to help progress it forward, seeing magic as a danger to the leylines and seeing it as unstable. He also reveals that the Dae Kingdom - the ex Demon Kingdom - has already signed on as allies, having agreed to leave behind magic and join up with him in the technology revolution. He reveals his people are already relocating Tsukiyomi and her temple to his city so that she can "help" him now that the alliance has been made. Due to the current fragile situation going on in Tareh, and not knowing enough about which side is in the right or wrong about magic, Taiga suggests that they back off for now until they know more, as each side will argue that the other is doing true harm to Tareh.
The problem being, both sides are agreeing to "help" aid them against the Unknown when the time comes, but as Ren points out that means you have to pick a side surely. Taiga makes sure to tell Kaelan to be sure to bring with anyone she can with them since Takashi will likely hold onto them like he is with Tsukiyomi otherwise, as they prepare to exit while the teleport system is still working.
