Chapter 4: Civil Crisis

Verse 1, S.1: Anniversary Session 18: Civil Crisis Part I

CoreSector HQ, Kumen - 10.13.5990 CE

Sen, having urgently pushed the tour up to as soon as possible, goes to see Erica and the others, asking them to come with her. She escorts them to the top floor, motioning them into the President's office before excusing herself.

The President's office seems rather spartan, although with a giant window wall that shows the entire city. The crew enter respectfully, and the President greets them, her voice sounding young, as well as a bit familiar to Yuki and Cookie. She wears a red face mask with painted Asian figures on it. The President speaks about the refugees, telling Erica that Kumen cannot take them, and so far Geyze is not willing either.

Little asks her if she's thought of looking at other planets, the President replying that they're doing so, but that it is taking time. The President remarks that the Aquarius is useless for combat under these conditions, and indicates a nearly finished ship that rivals it, owned by Macross. She says that she would normally take command of things, but with the coup d'etat that seems to be brewing, she's unsure how it would go.

With that, she gives the Aquarius crew their new mission: Enter Geyze orbit, away from the Macross ship, then go down to Geyze with Kitty and find the fabled 'peace school' thereon. She suggests they may be able to convince the Geyze people to take some of the refugees through this route, and that it might make things easier from there on, with fewer refugees to worry about.

The President notes that it will be easier if she has a ship to match theirs; she's preparing for war, should it come to that. They are urged to find Kitty and deal with things as quickly as possible. The President tells them that she will see about getting them some more personnel before they depart. Erica ushers the crew out.

The Club, Kumen - 10.13.5990 CE

The Cypher team prepare for Chelsea's tour, Asarar telling Kira to hurry up since they were told they can't do the tour without her. Asarar dresses Chelsea up in a pretty dress, while Wolfe fixes up Riki and Bonnie's hair, although Bonnie's hair now appears more white than blue. Luci wears a nice dress, but keeps her emergency gear reach in a pouch. They hop into a limo that was outside waiting for them.

As they drive along, Posco tries to stop them, but the driver simply ignores him. This only causes Posco to freak out and try even harder to follow them. Soon, though, they pass the barrier, finding their way into the beauty of CoreSector. When they arrive, Sen is waiting for them, glancing at Kira for whatever reason.

Sen greets them, noting the guest of honor Chelsea and telling her that she's gathered a few engineers to give them a look around the building, then Little will take them up to the Aquarius before it departs. She then turns to Kira and pulls her aside, asking for some of her time. Asarar seems unhappy with this, being told to stay with the rest of the group.

The group sans Kira move along, though Wolfe takes Riki and Bonnie to get refreshments. Chelsea listens to the engineers with interest as they chat about the design of the building and how things are built, asking them any questions that come to her mind. After a while, they finally reach the upper floors, where the Aquarius crew greet them.

Little leads them into the elevator, with Asarar a bit confused when they head down rather than up. It's explained that they don't have a space elevator and are heading down to the hangars. They eventually get into a shuttle, flying off toward the Aquarius.

Geyze Academy, Geyze - 10.13.5990 CE

In a private chamber, the Inner Council float over orbs as glowing figures, one person from each kingdom. From the daemon realm, a seductive voice speaks of how the southern war is disturbing and manipulative. It states that the Naturalists are being supplied to wear down the Hapians, and that the fact they have Kumen weaponry speaks volumes.

A strong Hapian voice adds that other kingdoms may be dragged in, with the Amazons already pledging support to the Hapians. This would likely make the Legionnaires support the Naturalists. Which in turn, could drag in more kingdoms still. The Summoni representative states that her people have no interest in wars, but they cannot make promises if attacked. Miyuki states that she will do what she can to neutralize these situations, and the Council fades away.

Shion arrives with reports about the fighting having slowed as both sides back off. She suggests a precision strike on the Naturalist base, though they'll still have to stop the Hapians afterward, and they don't know who is supplying the Kumen weaponry. Shion describes the situation: that the Hapians cut off the mining and took it over from Kumen, causing the Naturalists to get Kumen weaponry and attack the Hapians out of their hate for the mining. It seems so neat to her. She also states that the Aquarius is moving closer. In the day or two of lull, Shion will get Unit 6 ready for orders.

The Aquarius - 10.13.5990 CE

Team Cypher, including Kira, get to watch the Aquarius crew work as the ship departs. Yuki stands at Erica's side, where Saoirse would normally be, since Saoirse is away on an assignment. Chelsea sways, while Luci comments about how smooth the ride is. Little begins to explain why that is, and Chelsea pitches in. Soon, they are in orbit around Geyze. Unfortunately, as they enter orbit, a huge bright light glows below.

On the surface, the Naturalists, along with some Daemons, gather many spirits of fire and earth, forming a magic circle. They chant, some channeling the spirits. An explosion of energy erupts into the air as they try to call forth spirits, bringing forth two Lesser Great Spirits, Ferno and Plas. At the Academy, everyone turns to look, surprised by the light hundreds of miles away.

Back on the Aquarius, a massive hole is suddenly ripped into the ship's hull by the blast, alarms blaring as the ship is sent spinning down toward Kumen. The ship's shields are raised fairly quickly, Erica barking orders as she tries to figure out what the hell happened. Luci seems in shock by Geyze unloading an anti-starship blast, while Little explains that it was a spirit blast.

Little tells Chelsea to follow her to help in engineering, but some unexpected instability makes it a bit difficult even once Chelsea slips away from the others. Little punches right through the elevator and falls to engineering, while Chelsea decides not to chance the drop. Luci boggles over the fact that Geyze managed to line up an orbital shot with magic. Little works to get the emergency engines back up.

Geyze Academy, Geyze - 10.13.5990 CE

Debris begins to rain down on the Academy as the Aquarius spins in the distance hundreds of miles away. Gwen grabs Liana, wondering what's going on, and Liana suggests it may be a ship, because she can't imagine what else would be moving like that. Sasha steps out to see what happened, but at the same time, Miyuki comes out barking orders, and Sasha parrots them, ordering everyone to the shelters.

Everyone gathers their things and/or their dear ones and head to the shelters quickly, a piece of debris slamming through some trees and smashing a student. Gwen turns to Qui, who revives the student. Two more pieces of debris smash through the temples, while Unit 6 does its best to gather students and get them to safety. The distant object that is the Aquarius stops falling and begins to float back up. Miyuki uses her ice magic to put out fires.

Back at the summoning circle, the two summons lay confused as collars are snapped around their necks. They are led off by the Naturalists and the Daemons. The ground begins to crack from the damage, and a swirling dark hand emerges, grabbing the edge of the crack and pulling itself out slowly. The grass begins to wilter as a face emerges, seemingly feminine but hard to tell with the amount of swirling dark energy. It opens glowing red eyes and a glowing red mouth, screeching as it awakens. Nearby creatures keel over dead in response to its birthing all. It is the 8th Great Spirit, the Great Spirit of Death.

The Aquarius - 10.15.5990 CE

With two days having passed, the loss of lives is found to be around 10,000 due to how tightly-packed the ship is. Rumors have already begun to spread to the planets of what may have happened, although none of them seem to have their story straight. Erica has been spending time holding funerals, trying her best to show respect for the fallen.

Still in Geyze orbit, they prepare to go down to find the school, regardless of damages. Asarar decides she will stay on the ship, ahd the rest of her team follows suit. Little remarks that it hardly matters who goes, since the Aquarius wouldn't survive an attack regardless. Asarar notes that Sen will surely send supplies soon, but that Chelsea can handle the repairs.

Erica heads to the hangar and her away team gathers, with all of the top officers on board except for Kre'trav and Gor present. They depart by shuttle, Yuki piloting for once. She discusses her aunt, Miyuki, who is the founder of the school. They muse on this as Yuki flies them toward the Geyze space port.

Geyze Academy, Geyze - 10.15.5990 CE

Gwen and Commodus work on repairs, while Celsius paces, looking strangely uneasy. Liana and Alita try to ask her what's wrong, but to no response. Miyuki talks about the costs of repairing the damages, wondering how they'll pay for it. Suddenly, Rain appears, noting their need for money. Malfoy steps out as well, snorting at the idea of the Academy taking Daemon coin when they could simply have come to him.

Miyuki greets Rain and dotes upon her, while the others discuss Malfoy. Rain says that Miyuki makes her feel like a cute animal, and she could just bite. Miyuki leads her away to discuss matters. Alita asks Liana about Celsius, and Liana notes that Celsius didn't say anything. They ask again, to no avail.

Geyze Space Port, Geyze - 10.15.5990 CE

Yuki lands the shuttle and they disembark. Erica peers at a map and points at the area marked simply as "school". Everyone discuss this, with Kitty saying that she feels Miyuki would be more obvious than that, and says it might not be her school. At least it's a start, they agree.

As they walk along, they see a large number of Hapian guards checking everyone's IDs and luggage. A group of strange people who look like they may be on drugs place objects on the ground, and it looks like these things are placed all around as it is. A guard finally notices this and sounds an alarm. erica has her group escape in the confusion, Yuki running and the others quickly following.

Mere moments after they escape, the entire space port complex explodes. Erica and Cookie move to shield Yuki as shrapnel goes flying. Erica is hit, clutching a bloody wound. Cookie quickly moves to treat her while they get their bearings, trying to figure out their options from here. As they figure out which way to go, however, the air begins to feel heavy and wrong. The group unanimously agree to run, and they do.

As they make their break for it, a dark spirit forms and grows around all of the death, other dark spirits not like the usual kind gathering around it. Little shifts into her bear form, with Cookie riding on her, with Airym and Kitty hurrying to escape in their own ways. Erica brings up the rear.

The Club, Kumen - 10.17.5990 CE

Posco busts into the Club, causing Ortora and Barry to take notice. Prometheus moves to greet him, but Posco talks about how he got a warrant to deal with the place, ordering Ortora thrown in the tank, and ordering Ylva and Wolfe to be found. He says that the club is shut down until further notice, and tells Prometheus to shut himself off. Prometheus sees this as a threat. Barry triggers the silent alarm, while Ylva is found and rounded up. Prometheus asks Posco to leave, and Posco tells his men to deal with him.

The Aquarius - 10.17.5990 CE

Asarar grimaces at her data reader even as she's made her way through the ship's files. Luci asks her what's up, and Asarar responds that the Club has been raided by Posco. Chelsea meanwhile works hard in engineering, threatening the staff with knives to get them to work harder. Just then, Macross' ship launches from Kumen, and Asarar orders Otto to get Geyze between the Aquarius and Macross' ship. She also orders Chelsea to get the weapons ready. Kre'trav apologies, feeling her people are holding them back.

Geyze Academy, Geyze - 10.17.5990 CE

Rain departs, Miyuki very much not a vampire despite some bite marks. Shion brings news that the space port may have been destroyed, saying that the Hapians are seeking out the Naturalists. She states that they're ready to head to Naturalist territory to attack them, and that the Legion are teaming up with them as expected. Miyuki acknowledges this.

The team discuss what side they're on here, and Malfoy remarks that a fight is about to break out as both sides near the Hapian capital. Therefore, he must leave. He takes his cubs with him, although he's nearly run over by a bear with a girl riding atop it, much to the shock of everyone present. A fox flies into Malfoy's face, and he throws it off.

Miyuki grabs the fox, which then turns into Yuki, much to her surprise. Miyuki nearly smothers her. Liana asks Miyuki what's going on, with Miyuki introducing Yuki as her niece. Little turns into her human form, explaining that dark spirits are attacking. Erica introduces herself as Captain of the Aquarius. Cookie says that it felt like death. Erica explains the situation more detail.

Erica speaks about the refugees and the fact that they came to see if some of them might be able to find a new life on Geyze, but of course they can't even get back to their ship right now. Shion seems skeptical, but Erica does note that they don't have to take all of them, even as Little estimates roughly a million refugees. Shion still seems skeptical, since the Kingdoms may not listen amidst the war, but Miyuki says they have to try.

Celes says that she would help convince her mother if she could, but they're on a tentative relationship for reasons. She still says that she will try if she can. Sasha asks if she can help, and Celes admits that Sasha might have a better chance right now, considering Celes' condition.

Around that time, they see spirits floating off toward the Hapian Capital. Qui tries to speak up and suggest going to see Shade. Instead, Sylph is summoned and asked to check it out. Shion notes that they seem to be putting off their plans to attack the Naturalist base. Shion ultimately asks Celsius to take them to the battle. She complies, although Yuki and Erica stay behind, and Little prevents Cookie from coming at the last moment.

About 12 miles south of the capital, they see Naturalists firing high-tech weapons at the Hapians. They seem to be doing bad damage to each other, and all around is a thick Spiritual miasma. As spirits float into the miasma, they are transformed into strange death-like spirits. Sylph is nearby, looking weak as she observes.

Soon, the Death Spirit begins to emerge and grow stronger. They ask Sylph about it but she has no idea. Sasha speculates that this is how Kumen died. The Death Spirit forms a scythe-like blade, cutting people down, their bodies rotting away. Celsius is weakened by the miasma, while Sylph attacks with a full wind blast.

The group notice some sort of dark armor in the darkness as the Death Spirit moves. Commodus unleashes his limit break, causing the Death Spirit to stumble and screech, but then it cuts through Celsius with its scythe, her armor cracking. Sylph tells them to touch her quickly, and with Celsius in tow, they do. The Death Spirit swings for Sasha, who deflects the attack with her sword, just as Sylph warps them back to the Academy.

Sasha calls for the headmistress, while Liana and Alita attend to Celsius. Yuki rushes over as well. Celsius, her ice armor melting in spots, twitches. Her lips move as she begins to speak, and rather unexpectedly, she delivers 13 prophecies.

1: "The blood of royalty will fall and bring about civil war."

2: "A child born of two worlds will unite them and hold against the dark things of a new race."

3: "A spirit not naturally born will be the key to uniting spirits to save a dead world."

4: "Two not in line to inherit the throne will find themselves in place to inherit if they slay their kin, but only one will inherit - one will bring grief."

5: "Two siblings will fight on separate sides, one will rise, one will fall."

6: "A child of the guardian of the spirits will unite them all or break them all."

7: "A wilderbeast long gone from it's roots will bring to it's people a new way of life."

8: "A spirit of death will kill one that is needed to save people, but to bring this soul back will require the sacrifice of another of importance just as great."

9: "Nine tails will rule them, but eight tails seal them."

10: "A woman who is one thing, but not another, will lead them to a destiny that can be fatal or wonderful judging by those who love her."

11: "A sibling with a twin that is of the same blood, but not the same race, will unite the people, but will not unite the family."

12: "A linked Aurit will build the foundation that will save the Truth."

13: "A broken mind will need to break others' minds."

Everyone listens, Liana in tears as she worries that Celsius will die. Sasha notes that they sound like prophecies, just like from the stories. Yuki wonders where the prophecies are cooming from. In the end, Celsius passes out. Sylph goes to get Shade. Sasha notes that at last they know the Death Spirit can be hurt.

Sylph returns with Shade, and Shade asks to whom Celsius is linked. Liana and Miyuki offer a bit of their life force to help save Celsius, and Vyvy is fetched to do the same. Shade explains that the spirit they saw was the first spirit, really. That Aska and Shade were born after it, but something was wrong about it, craving not life, but destruction and death. Mindless. The end.

Aska and Shade had sealed the spirit beneath Geyze before the other spirits awoke, hoping it would stay sealed forever. Shade relates that it never felt natural, or that if it was, it felt as if it didn't work as they did. It fed off of things instead of giving. Sasha asks if there's a relation to Kumen's lack of living spirits.

Shade continues, saying that she can't imagine what unsealed it, or what could have the energy to do so. However, she is cut off by a scythe sticking through her, turning to see Vyvy. The spirit emerges from Vyvy's body, which falls to the ground. Shade twitches, her darkness slowly draining as Death forms completely.

Everyone retreats, Sasha's sword glowing in resonance with the Death Spirit's presence. Qui grabs Vyvy and tries to revive her as they go. Shade makes her last stand, blasting into Death. Shion ushers the group into the flying carriage, and they leave as fast as they can. Yuki protests, asking "What about Shade?" but Shion responds that Shade is already dead.

The Aquarius - 10.17.5990 CE

Asarar eyes the Macross ship, beautiful and monstrous, yet when scanned, said to be virtually nothing but dead space. They ponder what this could mean, and Chelsea suggests it could be using magikal energy, while Kira instead offers that the emptiness explains how they built it so fast. Asarar takes a vote as to whether they should attack, or attempt to get around it and return to Kumen.

The group as Kre'trav for her input, and she suggests that it's a ploy of some kind, but that whatever the case, they're trying to take matters out of the Aquarius' hands. Kira asks if there's any way the ships could be meant to combine, but Asarar quickly shoots that idea down.

Otto tries to move away from Geyze, but the ship continually moves to block them. Kira suggests they do something unexpected: raid the enemy ship. The team seems to agree to this, so Asarar acknowledges the plan, electing to assemble a small team, having tired of the ships' dance. To be continued...

Verse 2, S.2: Session 73: Civil Crisis Part II

10.17.5990 CE

On the Aquarius, Team Cypher board a shuttle, getting ready to head over to the enemy ship. Chelsea reluctantly leaves engineering, and Wolfe reassures Riki, who is staying behind. They head out, but even as they near the shuttle, the scans continue to come up blank.

Landing in one of the hangars, they find themselves in a very small and empty space with no visible exits. Bonnie remarks that it feels wrong. They begin looking for something, anything, to help them deal with the problems at hand. Bonnie finds a small crack, and Otto uses his abilities to clone himself to get to the other side. The team open a way through.

The ship seems to be filled to the brim with bombs, helping to further answer the questions the team had. Noting the bombs getting more and more critical, the team split up, with one group heading up to look for the controls while the other heads down toward the engines.

Back on the Aquarius, Kre'trav handles things on the bridge, while Gor handles things in engineering. Soon, the enemy ship catches them in a tractor beam, and unfortunately, it's far too strong for them to escape easily.

On the upper levels of the enemy ship, robots work the controls, turning to face Otto, Wolfe, and Kira. Otto greets them with a sniper shot, and the robots prepare to return the favor, although one robot, Robot 5, flails and runs around, saying he is alive. Some of the robots go for the ecape hatch while others are destroyed. Otto moves for the pilot controls, aiming the ship toward deep space. The crew over on the Aquarius notice this and attempt to fight the tractor beam.

In the lower levels, they find more robots, as well as the engines, and lots of bombs. The robots turn to stop them, but Chelsea tells them to take a break, saying they're here to relieve them. With some help from Asarar, her unsurprising bluff somehow pays off, and the robots head off to take their break. Chelsea finds the tractor beam panel and deactivates it.

The crew speculate about the bombs, but Chelsea realizes there's a chance that they don't have a central timer and might be unstoppable. The crew decide to get off the ship as soon as they can now that the tractor beam is off, dearly hoping the other crew set a course for deep space.

Chelsea tunes up the engines to make certain that the ship has enough speed. They check to see if any of the robots want to come with them, but they're still on break... having broken themselves into pieces. Luci snatches some parts to keep as evidence. Elsewhere, Otto grabs Robot 5, dragging him to the shuttle with them. Everyone reaches the shuttle and climbs in.

On the Aquarius, Riki, Kre'trav, and Gor watch the enemy ship explode, Riki and Gor mourning for Wolfe. Just then, though, the shuttle appears, damaged but not destroyed. Team Cypher make it back onto the Aquarius, and Asarar talks about how they need to return to Kumen as soon as possible. Luci moves to prepare another shuttle, while the others discuss the situation.

10.18.5990 CE

Back on Geyze, the rag-tag mix of Aquarius crew and Academy Unit 6 take a break to plan their next move. Qui places a rock down as a grave marker for Shade, saying a prayer for her. Everyone pays their respects in their own ways, though Celes looks pained in other ways.

Liana expresses her concern for Celes, while Sasha asks Celes about the talk they have yet to have. Alita starts examining Celes, claiming she's checking on a baby, though Celes tells Alita that she is mistaken, as Celes' wife Liana is, after all, female. Alita persists in her questioning, but is ultimately stopped by Miyuki.

Commodus, Shion, and Erica try to get the group back on track, and at Shion's urging, they are shortly on their way, traveling back to the Academy. There are no signs of any students, however, and Miyuki finds a note from Isis, telling them that she's taken the students into the tunnels under the temples. Sasha asks Celes again about what she had to say to her, but Celes says it isn't the time.

Liana finds her Temmie under some rubble, dirty but alive. She gets her out of the rubble and brings her to Celes, who says she'll stay at the Academy in the tunnels. Shion suggests splitting up, with one group heading south to take care of the Naturalists, while the other heads north with Miyuki. She asks Captain Erica if she's willing to help, getting an affirmative response.

The groups split up, with Celes handing Sasha a note to read later. Little chooses to go with Shion, and Cookie wishes to follow her. Erica seems reluctant to let her group split, but accepts this, even though she and Yuki decide to go with Miyuki. Commodus accompanies them with Miyuki's group, while Liana joins Shion's team. Sasha stays with Shion as well, although Qui goes with Miyuki to help convince her mother. Alita and Airym also go with Miyuki.

Qui discusses the situation with the Amazons, speaking of how it hasn't been possible to use water magic since the situation with Undine before. Qui suggests that they head to see her mother, suggesting that they can force them to stop figting, or otherwise take over. Miyuki summons Ceilia, and then suggests heading to see Isis first, but the others resist. They leave for the Amazon.

They are immediately confronted in the Amazon Capital, with a Matron ordering them to seize Princess Qui. The group stand ready to protect her, but the Queen, Gweneve Yi, appears personally, stopping them. Matron Ying protests, but Gweneve silences her, before leading Miyuki's group into her personal tent.

Meanwhile, Shion's group observe the Naturalist base, seeing two Lesser Great Spirits chained up in a corner as they are fed medicine. The entire area is surrounded by spirits, and there are also captive Hapian miners. High-tech Kumen weapons are stockpiled as well. Sasha remarks about their hypocrisy. A few daemons walk out, including a beautiful Asmos daemon who would almost appear to be the Daemon Empress were she not too young.

Listening in, the group hear about them speaking about an agreement, with the Daemons taking the two spirits, as well as some sort of talisman. Beyond that, the daemons appear uninterested in the war. The Naturalist General protests, speaking of how the Hapians rape the land, but the Asmos daemon only cares about taking power from her sister and directing the Daemon Realm as she feels it should be.

Little makes gestures to go around and take the spirits then escape in a firefight. Shion moves to set things in motion. Meanwhile, one of the captives dies, leading the group to immediate worry. Just then, Shion sets a gun tent on fire, and before long, the stockpile explodes, knocking many Naturalists over. The daemons disappear, while some Naturalists catch fire. The dead captive stands, looking just like Vyvy had before. To be continued...

Verse 3, S.3 Session 74: Civil Crisis Part III

Naturalist Territory, Geyze - 10.18.5990 CE

The Naturalists begin to close in on Shion, who quickly runs for it. The group try to formulate a plan, although the undead prisoner begins to absorb death spirits into itself, slowly transforming into Death. The Naturalists that stayed behind rather than chasing Shion begin to throw rocks at the group, who fall out of the trees toward them.

As Death forms, a new group arrives, led be a female weretiger and a Legionnaire. Sylph accompanies them. They subdue the remaining Naturalists and then turn their attention on Death. The weretiger introduces herself as Helen, Max's sister, while the Legionnaire is Hapes Guyus. The group then focus on getting away, grabbing as many people as they can, while Sylph distracts Death.

Geyze Academy Tunnels, Geyze - 10.18.5990 CE

Celes sits with Kitty, doing some reading as she plans for dealing with the refugees, noting that her mother will be quite difficult, but could hold a lot of them in her spirit dimensions. Kitty asks how difficult, and Celes explains. Just then, the rock-like cocoon they are sitting on begins to shake and crack, the Temmies cowering. It shatters, revealing Vyvy, alive.

Just then, Shion's group appear along with Sylph, who looks rather weak. They begin to explain the situation as Vyvy awakens, with Shion noticing that Miyuki's group has yet to return. The Temmies move in and try to feed Vyvy, who gently stops them as she looks for her Moonflower Blade.

Shion discusses what they should do next, talking about the Kaiser elections in the Legion. The group agree to head north once they're done here, while Vyvy begins to sob as she holds her sheathed sword against her. Shion and Sylph attempt to comfort her.

The Aquarius - 10.19.5990 CE

With the shuttle fixed up and the Aquarius largely repaired, Asarar returns her focus to using a shuttle to get back and save the others who were taken from the Club. Chelsea suddenly notices, by coincidence, a transmission coming in, directed at a specific room. As the others begin to head down to the shuttle, Chelsea goes to investigate.

Chelsea hears Kira speaking with Sen, with Sen giving Kira orders to convince Asarar to detour and deal with the Corporations. She explains that she's picked up an agent to deal with Team Cypher's friends, in the meantime. Sen expresses her concern that the three Corporations might attempt a coup, and explains Posco is still trying to break into the upper floors of the Club. Sen suggests that Kira could reveal her true self, but it's up to her. Kira notes that she hasn't decided, and isn't even sure which is her anymore.

Chelsea goes down to the shuttle, pretending she hadn't heard anything. As they set out, Kira explains that CoreSec sent her a message, and that there's activity going on that may be signs of a Corporate coup. She says that they've already started an operation to rescue people from the Psyco Police. The others glance at her, with Asarar saying it's a bit out of their line of work.

CoreSector HQ, Kumen - 10.19.5990 CE

Sen stands before her newest agent, Saoirse, as well as Kaylin. She explains to them that Saoirse's knowledge of the slums will be useful for the mission ahead, in which she needs them to go to Quad 5 and find Max, then go to the Club and clear it out, before finally going to the Quad 5 Psyco Pass Building to retrieve the prisoners from the Club.

Sen tells Saoirse that she has full CoreSector Agent authority and can free the prisoners however she sees fit. Kaylin asks if they have full combat authority if necessary, and Sen affirms. Saoirse asks for clarification that all she needs to be sure of is that they won't tip their hat, which she gets. Sen continues clarifying that she can do pretty much anything she feels is necessary so long as it achieves her mission.

Amazon Territory, Geyze - 10.19.5990 CE

Qui trains with Gweneve Yi while Miyuki's group watches. Gweneve expresses her skepticism toward what Qui will do if she attains leadership, suggesting she'll have them bow before men, and noting that men raped and killed her nymph mother. The team discuss this in their own ways, with Miyuki suggesting that bending the knee can be a good way to get in close and deliver a killing blow.

Unfortunately, three matrons arrive, weapons in hand, and challenge Qui to the ritual combat of succession. Gweneve tries to protest, but the Matrons state that they know Qui will be named as successor, and tell Gweneve to either say she will not be named, or stand aside. Yuki notes that this seems like cheating, but Qui stands ready to take them on.

Alita asks if healing is allowed between bouts. It is not, although Gweneve suggests that Alita could take her place. Alita notes that wouldn't be wise. Erica seems to consider doing it, however. Qui fights, taking a nasty slice along her ribs, but she soon defeats the first Matron. The second Matron steps forward, moving fast and stabbing Qui in the leg. Qui throws dirt in the Matron's face and finishes her out of desperation.

The third Matron steps forward as Qui stands using the spear, her right leg useless. Qui follows Commodus' old training, using the stick of her spear to help her, but the Matron cuts her all over, until finally, Qui rams her, knocking her down and pinning her with her spear before knocking her unconscious.

The team check on Qui and tell her how well she did, while Gweneve notes that no further Matrons may approach until Qui is healing, and that when she is healed, they'll resume her training. While Miyuki advises Qui, Yuki warns Erica to be on the look-out for dirty tricks, now that the Matrons have lost fairly.

Geyze Academy Tunnels, Geyze - 10.19.5990 CE

Shion seems better, and says that with Sylph's help, she's heading up north. Cookie, Sasha, Mykel, Liana, and Little volunteer. Kitty decides to once again stay. Liana asks Vyvy if she is well enough to come, but it's soon clear that Vyvy isn't ready yet. The team say their goodbye, albeit with concern for Vyvy mixed in. Kitty says that she'll look after Vyvy and try to get her mind straight. Liana tells Celes to take care too, and the team try to reassure Vyvy that there may be hope for Shade. Celes leads Vyvy off for a nap.

Quad 5 Slums, Kumen - 10.19.5990 CE

Saoirse and Kaylin run into Max near the club, Saoirse approaches Max and asks him for his name and profession, but he gives an obvious fake response. Saoirse gives him a chance to be honest, since she already has his actual name and occupation, to which he asks why she even asked.

She responds that she'd like a good working relationship with the trust of friendship, or else she'd rather he be unconscious. Saoirse brings him along with her, and he notes that he can tell he's going to hate working for her.

Legionnaire Capital, Geyze - 10.19.5990 CE

Shion's group arrives, along with Hapes. A large crowd is present, waiting for the election voting. Jules gives a speech nearby about the future of the Republic, saying that the Amazons will not stop. The group settle on speaking to Jules, who seems elated when he sees his brother is alive and well.

Jules thanks the group for bringing his brother back, then Hapes begins to speak to him about stopping the war. He tells Jules about the Death Spirit, warning that it's thriving off of the war and will decimate all of Geyze. Liana, Mykel, and Sylph back him up, with Liana speaking of Shade's death. This prompts Salamander to appear, who then heads off south to see her Vyvy.

Shion again urges Jules to stop the war, telling him that Qui is already there, trying to take the crown. Hapes adds to this, saying that Qui is a good person and he loves her. This seems to shock him, but he agrees to halt his military campaign if he supports him in his campaign for the election. He also says that if Qui is elected, they will see about making peace.

The team notes that Jules is not opposed in the election anyway, which he acknowledges. He adds that they haven't been on the attack in a while, so hatling things will be easy enough. Mykel asks him if he knows about any legionnaire dispatched to the Amazon to weaken Undine. He says that he dispatched them but never heard back from them. Little asks about the Daemon coup, to which Shion responds that they can send someone once they reunite with Miyuki's group.

Amazon Territory, Geyze - 10.19.5990 CE

Evening begins to descend, and Gweneve continues to express some skepticism toward her daughter's wish to rule. There is movement behind the tent, and Miyuki goes to investigate, only to be caught in a net. Erica and Yuki rush out followed shortly by the others, finding two Matrons setting a timed bomb. Commodus throws the bomb away, telling people to clear out before it blows, while Erica and Yuki attack the Matrons.

The bomb goes off, destroying the Matrons' tents. In light of this turn of events, Gweneve tells Qui that come tomorrow morning, she may battle her for the throne. She warns her that it will be a fight to the death. Alita suggests imprisoning the Matrons rather than letting them die, considering that they don't want to get the attention of the Death Spirit.

Epilogue 1

In the Hapian territories, a bright light begins to form over the battlefield. Those of good morality feel a heroic feeling, as if a blessed crusade approaches, while those of bad morality begin to feel weaker. Meanwhile, in the back tunnels, the Tamae healers close the eyes of a student as they pass on despite the healers' best efforts. The student begins to twitch as the move to help others...

Verse 4, S.4 Session 75: Civil Crisis Part IV

Kumen – Quad 5 Slums
10.19.5990
Saoirse, Kaylin, Max and Jelly are outside the Psycho Cop’s HQ, Barry and Prometheus carrying an odd sword having just been brought out from hold up. When pressedfor information on Chief and Ylva, the guard reluctantly shows them photos of their dead bodies; stating that one had died of complications and the other had been deemed a danger. Saoirse demands to see the bodies, pushing the officers to acquiesce to CoreSec authority, and is allowed access. The others joining her even though they have to disarm…oddly enough neither Saoirse nor Kaylin having weapons visible or that can be detected by the guards. Though perhaps the largest surprise is the Sword Prometheus carried out, it turns into a very naked and very perturbed woman.

Inside they are brought along to where the bodies have been kept, noting that there’s some inconsistencies Saoirse takes custody of them and decides to take them back to the club without too much unusual gusto. Albeit, as they go Jelly’s demeanor betrays a certain amount of satisfaction at Chief’s end.

Kumen – Upper Levels
Asarar, Luci, Chelsea, Otto, Kira, Wolfe and Gor have returned on a shuttle, landing at a relatively friendly space-port, where they consider their next step. The most logical is to go after the Corporations trying to wrest control from CoreSec, but the only way to do that is to drop all of the information off with the singleCorporation that has maintained neutrality in all internal affairs; NueAge. To get there they have to pass through the hostile Quad 3, getting a hover car they pilein and head that way; unfortunately right after they pass into Quad 3 they are attacked…Posco has received a nice gift from the Corporations, the Posconator, a high-tech Mecha outfitted with powerful weapons, which he uses to blast the car.

Geyze – Amazon Territory
Gwen sits before a fire before the death-battle with his mother Queen Qweneve, several of his teammates as well as Aquarius crew sitting nearby and relaxing whiletrying to reassure him. Gweneve finally comes out of her tent, and Gwen musters the courage to confront her; the result being the cold hard truth…that the extent of her love for Gwen was allowing him to live, letting him play with Qui and letting him choose a life of his own. With that said the battle looms before them, Qui squaring off against Gweneve for control of the Amazon Nation.

Geyze – Hapian Territory
Sylph, Shion, Mykel, Sasha, Little, Cookie, Liana and Kito arrive on a hilltop overlooking a Hapian force of arms lead by Eve and the Great Spirit Aska. When theyapproach to inform them that the Naturalists have been stopped, they are shocked to learn that the point of this Holy Army is to instead battle the Death Spirit…which is why they’re heading towards the Academy, Death is there. Getting Sylph to use her remaining power to transport them back to the Academy in hopes that they arrive before their friends wind up absorbed or killed.

Kumen – Upper Levels
The hovercar has crashed on Floor 47 of Industrial Robotics, most of the occupants relatively unhurt, though Asarar is pinned within it; and Posco in his mech crashing through the floor to get at them. While those caught in the car are pulled free; Gor attempts to hack into the suit to shut it down, while Otto demonstrates a pure sadistic hunger and starts fighting against the mech. As missiles explode and the building around them is destroyed, they are forced into a retreat…hoping that Wolfe can arrive with medical packs and backup.

Kumen – The Club
Saoirse, Kaylin, Max, Jelly, Barry, Prometheus and ‘Sword Girl’ arrive with the bodies of Chief and Ylva just as Wolfe is getting ready to go assist Asarar’s group; most heading inside to recover while Maxwell Terran shows up, immediately recognizing Ylva, but Prometheus lets slip that this was most likely a cloned body and that the real Ylva is out there somewhere. While Saoirse tries to get answers from Terran, the others head off to meet up with Asarar.

Geyze – Amazon Territory
Qui has beaten her mother Gweneve in battle, even though it was perhaps the single hardest thing for her to do; Amazons, friends, allies and teammates looking on. As Gweneve’s body is burned, Qui’s rule is threatened almost immediately via poisoning; those responsible being rounded on by other Matrons, Undine stripping the offenders of their links and banishing them, while Salamander and Vyvy arrive to congratulate Qui. As they are readying for the next battle, Sylph arrives and notifies every one of the current situation with Death being at the Academy and the impending arrival of the Hapain Army along with Aska; each gathering their gear quickly and latching onto a spirit to head back as quickly as possible.

Kumen – Quad 3
Asarar and her rag-tag team have safely evacuated from the building, Wolfe arriving with his group of girls (and a little fox) and med-packs for all. As soon as Asarar climbs into the driver’s seat and speeds off, Posco lands in his mech a few feet from where they had been parked. Posco follows in his mech as they speed towards Quad 2, getting caught in the security barrier between Quads while the car continues on, Otto and Wolfe depart and prepare to deal with Posco once and for all.

Asarar and the others arrive at the main entrance to the NueAge News Agency, heading inside and start relaying the truth of what occurred with Macross’s ship; providing video footage as well as the presence of R5 itself to dispute the voracity of the claims. Outside Posco is left completely vulnerable when his mech’s internal batteries run completely dead, Otto and Wolfe dragging him out and after a few choice words bring him over into a dark alleyway.

Geyze – The Academy
Shion, Cookie, Little, Sasha and Mykel have returned to search for Death; Isis leading them into the tunnels to where the injured are located, before they can get there however they encounter death-like miasma and Isis is snatched towards it. Kitty and Cookie both trying to drag her out and Mykel exerting psionics to pull as well; with Death confirmed in the tunnels, evacuation is ordered. Miyuki and the Amazonian crew arriving to assist, clogging the tunnel entrances with ice to slow the advance of the miasma and give them time to make a plan to combat the Death Spirit.

As students get free of the area, Airym suggests that Death is drawn to the Academy for a reason; and she heads off along with Kitty and Shion to find whatever is drawing it here. While they investigate, Aska arrives with her holy army empowering her with their combined belief in her ‘goodness’, and when Death begins pulling itself out from below ground she attacks mercilessly. The battle with the Great Spirit of Death is begun, Vyvy unleashing her wrath at the loss of shade along-side every member of Unit 6 and the Aquarius that is still present, the Spirits Undine, Celsius and Salamander as well as Miyuki adding their considerable power to the effort.

Due to the combined efforts, Death is pummeled relentlessly; the most devastating strike though comes when Kitty and Airym find First One technology buried within a wall of a temple on the Academy grounds, a strange device that draws its power from a Centerpoint Shard. Shion removes the crystal and therefore a source of power for Death who begins to shrink upon the field of battle, its attacks growing frantic to cause death to re-empower itself. With surprising support from those gathered, and Aska unleashing a devastating sealing magic; Death is returned to its slumber.

Those gathered begin the long process of restoration, seeing first to those who have suffered injuries; Aska and the Hapians leaving after Vyvy yells at her regarding the loss of Shade to which Aska gives a simple proclamation; “The age of Light has begun”…

Kumen
Asarar and the Clubbers, as well as Agent Saoirse and Kaylin, have returned to the Club to relax; watching on the Holovid as NueAge News broadcasts the story that they supplied, showing all of the evidence that contradicts the claims of Macross, StarCorp and Ani-Mon about their vessel being attacked by Geyze. For now it seems that the Coup has been thwarted and everyone can go back to their normal lives; but not everyone has such to go back to…
